About the author

Jesús Angel Solórzano Telechea (HIS'93 PhD'99) is Catedrático (Full Professor) in Medieval History. He/him/his.

He has been invited lecturer/speaker at American, African and European universities.

He has a broad interest in Medieval Urban History and he is especially interested in:
- Power, social conflict and communication in the Medieval cities.
- Port and Maritime history of the Middle Ages.
- Gender and Medieval History

Research Projects:
He has been a principal Investigator of Spanish Government research projects on medieval port-towns of Atlantic Europe, in which participates several European Universities, funded by the Government of Spain, called:
- BARMER “From the Ship to the Market: economic activity, Social relations and armed conflcits in the late Medieval Atlantic ports (PID2020- 118105GBI00). From 2021 to 2025
- "Townsports and seaports in the joint of the Atlantic coast in the Middle Ages" (HAR2009-08474). From 2010 up to 2013 (Finished)
- "Urban societies in the townports of Atlantic Europe in the Middle Ages" (HAR2012-31801). From 2014 up to 2017 (Finished)
- "Politics, institutions and Governance of the townports and seaports of Atlantic Europe in the Later Middle Ages: a transnational comparative analysis" (HAR2017-83801-P). From 2018 up to 2021 (Finished)
He also participates in the research projects:
- Network “La Gobernanza de los puertos atlánticos, siglos XIV-XXI” (HAR2016-81812-REDT)
- "Maritime Conflict Management in Atlantic Europe, 1200-1600" NWO (Netherlands)
