'HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN STARTING SCHOOL OR PRESCHOOL'
- Kids' Book Review
Ozzie lives with his dad in a shipping container by the sea in the Top End of Australia.
Ozzie isn't afraid of much. Not the cool dark of the container when the door is closed at night. Not snakes. Not even of the crocodiles that he and his dad watch out for on the beach during the day.
But there is something Ozzie is afraid of ...
In this delightful story about a boy starting school, Ozzie faces up to his fears of being without his dad in a strange place with new people - and comes up trumps!

'Ozzie Goes to School is highly recommended for families with children starting school, or preschool, or to build confidence when being exposed to other new experiences.'- Kids' Book Review
This is a great book for my daughter who didn’t settle in her first kindergarten but enjoys this second one. I am worried about her settling in school next year and this book shows that sometimes it takes time to settle in and start enjoying new environments.
We forget sometimes how scary going to school for the first time can be and Ozzie our main character has many fears. He leads quite an idyllic beach side life with his Dad searching for treasure, fishing and doing his chores. When it is his turn to go to school he worries about what he doesn’t know - how to talk in front of stranger, how to do Maths and how to read. With the gentle support of his Dad and his very encouraging teacher Ms Jocelyn and classmates Ozzie learns that with time he can conquer his fears. We loved the gentleness and patience conveyed in this very uniquely Australian book and feel it will be a wonderful addition to school rooms for your younger students.
