In the addictive sequel to The Part 1, the deadly game of cat and mouse continues for protagonist, Peter Ritchie, before drawing to a revealing and haunting close. We are again transported to London in the nineties, where Peter Ritchie’s list of suspects for the murder of prostitute Bobby Black is getting shorter and shorter. Due to his involvement with the case, Ritchie now finds himself so entrenched in a dark world of blackmail, police corruption, and cover-ups, he’s forced to put everything on the line, including those that are closest to him, in order to uncover the truth, and finally set himself free. But this truth will come at a truly horrific price.
I finished this book part 1 and part 2. It is in fact two books to be purchased separately. First book ends almost without a comma to say buy part 2 to find out what happens. I do hope I remember Mr Ian R. B, Morris. He of the dirty trick. Those two books were one story. Albeit a very good story, gripping and with lots of suspense. Will the old judge live and own up publicly to being gay! Will Naomi survive her incarceration? Why then do this really underhand thing. Need more money? Charge more for your book!!!
I had purchased both books, 1 was free so I purchased 2 at a modest sum, I recommend this story, it was entertaining, but I must say until the end of Book 2 I kept thinking I was going to be left hanging again. Mr Morris left the story finished, but he certainly has a bit of an opening to pursue it further if he wishes. The baddies are still looking for the diaries after all.
Superb book a real page turner- can’t wait to read more from this author. I get the feeling this story is not finished. To make sense you must read part 1 otherwise you will not make sense of the plot
Trite, unimaginative, unbelievable...fraught with unintelligible British jargon and colloquial idioms undefined in my dictionary...a complete waste of my time. Never again
This is very short - so much so that I think the whole situation of making Parts 1 and 2 separate books is illogical. Definitely not as good as the first part. The conclusion of the "case" is satisfying but the ending of the book highly improbable and a huge let-down.
