Rissa's poem are written with a combination of playfulness and sensuality that give her work a distinctive flavor. Though there is a great variety of works in "Goodnight, Poet", they all share this common theme. As you read the book, you feel yourself experiencing the different kinds of love we experience in different relationships, from friendships to passion to contentedness. I recommend reading slowly, one poem at a time, and letting her words wash over you and settle in to the soul.

My dear friend Susan gave me this book as a lender to perk my interest in poetry. It’s not something I would normally choose as poetry feels like riddles and nonsense sometimes. I took my time with this book, however, reading one a night or every other night, and found I rather enjoyed the night time routine. Rissa Miller moves from sweet to sultry as her poems take readers on a journey through love and lust. Some of her poems are even silly and appropriate for children, however, the passages toward the end are most certainly for adults only. I think I enjoyed them the most. Great collection, I would highly recommend this book to those who indulge in poems frequently, or others, like myself, who are lyrical virgins.

This book of poetry succeeds in almost everything it attempts. As a tome of 'poems to share' it is a great find, and I've been reading one or two of them with my spouse at night whenever we travel. The tone is flirty, fun, but also sometimes carries a hint of melancholy. As with all collections, some resonate more with me than others, but I didn't find a clunker in the bunch. Four stars is a high rating for me to give to poetry! I am so picky, but this book did not disappoint me. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

A seductive book of poems. Each unique and has its own voice. Some wonderful to read to you lover. Some innocent enough to read to your child. All colorful and vibrant. Must have for any lover of poetry.
