This basal book integrates well the human experience of shame with biblical, theological, psychological, and pastoral insights. Albers approach in dealing with shame is more universal, making his emphases applicable to many cultures. His best chapter is on “The Dynamics of Shame” (chapter 3) in which he describes the various kinds of shame and illustrates shame from the Bible. Also, chapter 5 on “theological resources” lays a strong Christian foundation for helping people overcome shame.
