My father was a hunter - a good one. I trailed along behind him many times in the field but never approached his ability nor his love of being outdoors. I read sporting stories and books and loved them...and I still do.
I read "Outdoor Life" and "Field & Stream" avidly from about 1952 till 1963 and loved those magazines. This collection of outdoor stories came from "Sportng Classics" magazine which started in 1981, but I never knew about it. I stumbled across this book in the mid-90s and have enjoyed it immensely. In fact, I'm putting it on my nightstad to read once more after I finish the Forester Hornblower series once more.
"RIver Gods & Spotted Devils" contains some true classics in the sporting story line and I recommend it.
