Fanny's Destiny: One Woman's Journey through Turbulent Times

Rate this book
Born out of wedlock, adopted into a wealthy, loving family, Fanny was fluent in Latin, Greek, and French by the time she was 12. Her adoptive father represented King George III in the New World. Thus, Fanny was a strong and vocal Loyalist. “Ethan Allen” bespoke a vile expletive in Fanny’s perspective. As the War for Independence evolved, Fanny’s circumstances altered substantially. Among these shifts in life style came the dreaded encounter with Patriot, General Ethan Allen.

Fanny’s Destiny is an historical novel built around real events as a new country and new state were emerging. The story is as accurate as years of research can produce. Some events may seem unlikely but they are spot on, yet never recorded in our history books.

Good research, good writing

Micki Smith's 20-year research journey has produced a worthy telling of a significant period in Vermont's
history and the woman who lived (and endured) it. Nicki has written a carefully crafted book filled with many magnificent, memorable little passages. The well-defined characters are interesting and each, in their own way, pertinent to telling this history. If you love American history and a good read, you'll love Fanny's Destiny.

Well researched and richly detailed historical fiction

What a fun and engrossing read! I knew very little about this particular period in history (post revolutionary war) and Fanny''s story was a fun way to learn. The character's voices were distinct and their development believable. I would recommend this to anyone looking to be transported and inspired.
