This special set collects the complete Donavan Adventure series—all six novels—in a single volume for the first time. Experience over 1,000 pages of thrilling adventure, perfect for fans of Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, or James Rollins. This set contains the following six full-length SECRET OF THE OIL (Book 1): In Iran, terrorists have gained access to a nuclear device. But they aren't going to set it off on US soil. They're planning to set it off on their own. SECRET DEVICE (Book 2): A nuclear device is hidden on Air Force One. And the President is on board. SECRET OF THE THORNS (Book 3): An ancient manuscript discovered in Warsaw, Poland, reveals a secret Gospel and ancient Koran text lost in Spain centuries ago. And archeologist and former Army counterterrorist specialist Bridget Donavan is about to follow their trail to a shocking revelation that will shake the world to its very core. SECRET OF THE BIBLES (Book 4): In the 4th century A.D., the Emperor Constantine commissioned fifty bibles. One safeguarded a dangerous secret that could destroy Christianity. That bible was believed lost to history. Until now. SECRET OF THE ICON (Book 5): High in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a covert FBI sting attempts to intercept a Russian warlord's arms deal. But the mission goes sideways, leaving one agent dead, another out of a job, and the arms dealer in the wind with a secret icon from the time of the Byzantine Empire. SECRET VENGEANCE (Book 6): A daring assassination attempt leaves FBI Agent Matt Higgins's closest friend bleeding out in an alley. Seeking justice, he embarks on a global search to find the mastermind behind the attack.
While I enjoyed the plots of these books there were many spelling and grammar errors that were distracting. But the worst part was the inconsistencies in the books. For example in the first two books one of the main character worked closely with another character, but when these two characters met in the third book it was written as though they didn't know each other. Also, a main character started with a young daughter but by the end there was no mention of the daughter as if she never existed.
This strikes me as a series where the author had a great idea, and was very excited for a couple of books. Then he finds out that he needs to stretch the story for an extra book or two. What had been a 4 or maybe 4.5 review fell tremendously, due to a ham-handed finale. I really enjoyed the beginning, and then tolerated the finish.
This book set contained six books. All of the major characters are very well defined, the theme and plots are pretty good, however there is a bit too much repetition within the six books. This could be good if the stories were stand alone stories.
An interesting set of novels that had me alternately reading avidly and then thinking I'd just skip it. The stories do grow on the reader and by the time I began to like Bridgett, she was gone. However, the series finished strong, with room for Matt to rise again.
First book of series was the best one. Went downhill from there. Plenty of typos. Author confused characters descriptions. I kept hoping it would get better. The books do not.
Character development is sophomoric. Character relationships and storylines are somewhat implausible. A good editor would have counseled a thoughtful rewrite.
