Can the trauma of her past save someone’s future? Sierra Jane Hart is a nature guide in Southwest Florida. She tries to put the incident behind her, but within a couple of days, a man attacks her, and two young girls go missing. Is there a connection? Detective Dan Bentley seems to think so. Dan Bentley doesn’t trust women. Not after his wife deserted him, leaving him to care for their four-year-old daughter alone. But Sierra’s sincerity and solid faith in the midst of escalating circumstances challenges him to reconsider his thoughts about God and his vow to remain a single father. In their search to uncover the truth, Dan and Sierra are forced to deal with their pasts. When they discover the secret of Sierra’s childhood, the hunt for the elusive criminals and their captives becomes personal. Laura Bennet blogs and writes books about hope, healing, and redemption. Her first book, The Miracle of Us: Confessions of an Online Dater, shares the story of how she and her Aussie husband met online through a Christian dating site back before it was popular. Laura enjoyed forty years as an educator in various settings. She also owned a pizza restaurant, coached gymnastics and hockey, wrote reports for a private investigator, sold tuxedos, and home-schooled six of her seven children. A life highlight was speaking at a woman’s conference in Athens, Greece. She adores her husband, seven adult children and eleven grandchildren. Although she’s lived most of her life on California’s west coast, she currently makes her home in balmy, Southwest Florida with her husband. When she’s not walking on the beach, photographing nature, or sipping her weekly peppermint mocha, she loves to connect with her readers. She also offers help and encouragement with writing through her “Real Time Writers” Facebook group, and has published literature guides for home and classroom educators.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It's not sappy Christian fiction--it's like a drama, action, mystery thriller dealing with the terrible reality of human/sex trafficking that's closer to home than some people realize. It's about overcoming a terrible past to help others, and help yourself in many ways.
Wonderfully written. Each chapter led me to want to read the next. The highlighted topic of this book revolves around human trafficking, which doesn't only happen overseas. It occurs here in the US as well. It tugs at every emotion. The author is also contributing a portion of the proceeds for each book purchased towards an organization in SW Florida that helps victims.
Once again, Laura Bennet has put her top-notch writing skills to work to deliver another amazing book. This talented author does a wonderful job of exposing the shocking reality of human trafficking that is so prevalent in our society. And she has dealt with this heart-wrenching topic in a way that offers hope and healing. Dangerous Ground will grab your attention—it’s a real page-turner. I highly recommend this book.
