Product Description:

Ryan Weller has killed the leader of the Aztlán cartel. Their terrorist cells inside the United States were rounded up to prevent more attacks on cities in the desert Southwest. But no one in the government is paying attention to the man who supplied the cartel with weapons, Jim Kilroy. The arms dealer has a history of working with the US government. He started by running drugs and guns in and out of Nicaragua, and now he supplies Afghanistan militias to fight the Taliban. Kilroy also supplies weapons to drug lords and dictators, using his string of posh resorts to launder his ill-gotten gains.

One of those resorts is in Caye Caulker, Belize, run by Aaron Grose. Ryan decides to turn Aaron into an informant. Ryan and his partner, Mango Hulsey, travel with owner of Dark Water Research, Greg Olsen, to Caye Caulker, on the trail of the largest arms shipment Kilroy has ever made.

The new leader of the Aztlán cartel has offered a two-million-dollar bounty for Ryan and Mango. On the tiny resort island, those elements collide. A Russian bounty hunter named Volk attacks and destroys the resort. He also kills Kilroy’s business partner.

Kilroy knows Ryan’s history. Using a combination of threats against the men’s and patriotic appeal, Kilroy convinces Ryan and Mango to deliver the load of weapons to a Haitian dictator, who is paying for them with twenty-five million dollars in gold bars.

Haiti is fraught with internal strife and poverty. Ryan knows that a new dictator could upset the balance of power in the Caribbean. He agrees to deliver the weapons, placing himself on the ship will give him an opportunity to stop the transfer from happening.

Caught in the middle of a power struggle between Haitian warlords, a ruthless international arms dealer, and a Russian bounty hunter, who has taken his employer hostage, Ryan must find a way to save the day. The only way out just might be a watery grave.

I'm center-brained and I get bored easily. I worked a lot of jobs in construction, as a security guard, a motorcycle tech (I'm a certified for Honda and Yamaha), as a car technician, a property manager, and in the scuba industry. My favorite job was being an aviation electronics technician (AT) in the US Navy. (I guess my new favorite is writing). After a motorcycle accident left me paralyzed, the Navy said, "You're out of here," and medically retired me.
I moved back to Ohio, got married, had a son, and completed a bachelors in business management. I was always tired of the cold and the snow. It doesn't make it easy to get around when you're in a wheelchair. After years of trying to convince the wife to sell the house and travel, we bought a twenty-five foot toy hauler. I voided the warranty the day we brought it home by taking out one of the bunks and making and installing custom cabinets. Then we spent several winters traveling the Southwest, and eventually sold the house. We lived in the trailer full time for about two years and saw most of the US, except Kansas and Nebraska and New England. We'll get there.
Along the way, I tried my hand at a lot of action sports; skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping, motorcycle racing, ATV riding, and scuba diving. I love to dive, so much that we ended up settling in Hollywood, Florida. I try to dive at least once a week and I'm working on my technical diving certifications. I want to go to three hundred feet.

A drug cartel, an arms dealer, and a little voodoo

I am hooked on Ryan Weller. Started with Dark Water (#1) and then Dark Prey (#9) and belatedly realized I had to get down with Dark Horse (#3) – Dark Path (#8) as soon as I finished this one. Kind of like a drug addict who needs that next fix. Not wanting to take any chances, I purchased all of the rest of the series.
Evan Graver writes what he knows. Like Evan, his lead character - Ryan Weller - is ex-EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal). Ryan handles his underwater diving experiences with the sense of attention-to-details of the professional, yet never lets it become intrusive. And Ryan, like the best of the Special Forces brotherhood, never hesitates to put his life on the line in order to protect the ones he serves with and those who are at the mercy of the cruel and powerful.
Ryan, and his best friend, Mango, have a two million dollar bounty on their heads, courtesy of their actions in Dark Water. If delivered alive to the poster of the bounty, so they can be subjected to torture and a lingering death, there is a cash bonus.
I love the main and the secondary characters. There is emotion, as well as ironic military humour. Settings are as three dimensional as you can achieve with the written word. The suspense and pacing are torrid.
I read Brad Thor, David Poyer, Marc Cameron, Ben Coes, Brad Taylor, and Dalton Fury (now deceased, and much missed) – and now read Evan Graver

Exciting

This is the second book in the Ryan Weller series and I found it to be just as exciting as the first book. I guess I’ll just have to keep reading the subsequent books until I find that they are no longer exciting.

Book 2 in the Ryan Weller series. Not as strong as the first book, but still a fun read. It continues the story. This author speaks with the authority of personal experience on the limits and frustrations of physical disability. Nonetheless, his characters demonstrate that their injuries do not define them. If you like action involving boats and scuba diving, this series is for you.

As good as the first.

The action just keeps coming.
It is some times difficult for a author to
keep up the momentum in a series.
Not this author! Another case, more
non-stop action with old friends and new enemies.
Don't miss it!!
