Leaving Your Mom Legacy: A 30-Day Devotional on Reflecting Christ
Your life is worthy of a legacy that points to Jesus. There are some days when your life seems anything but purposeful. No one told you mom life meant the same mundane tasks over and over and over again. Dishes. Laundry. Discipline. Puke. Poop. Work. Lack of sleep. Lost temper. Mom guilt. Rinse (if you have time) and repeat. Where do you find your life’s purpose in the mundane and difficult days of motherhood? How can you connect with Jesus when the only thing you can see is the mountain of to dos that come with caring for your family? Jesus is with you in your daily routine - even while cleaning pee off the bathroom wall. You can fulfill your God-designed purpose while doing the hundredth load of laundry and sneaking veggies into your family’s meal. Leaving Your Mom Legacy is a 30-day devotional on reflecting and knowing Christ in motherhood. Kristina Gorr speaks truth into your mom life by diving into the imperfect legacies of eleven moms in the Bible, exploring how their stories point to the gospel and how yours does too. You’ll be inspired and equipped to reflect Christ in the tough and unglamorous mom moments. And no matter what is in your past, your present, or your future, you’re eyes will be opened to how your legacy will point to Jesus Christ for generations to come.

Have you ever wondered what kind of legacy you are leaving for your children and grandchildren? How will they remember you after you have left this world?
Kristina Gorr’s 30-Day Devotional, Leaving Your Mom Legacy, focuses on this very subject.
This devotional is divided in two parts:
1. Learning from Moms of Old
This first section recounts the backstories of moms from the Bible---like Rahab, Bathsheba, Ruth, Rebekah, Hannah and Mary the mother of Jesus.
Some of these moms lived by faith while others made terrible choices and created messes that impacted the lives of their children and grandchildren.
And yet--through it all, God used their messes to bring about better circumstances and a legacy from which Jesus Christ himself was descended.
2--Leave a Mom Legacy that Reflects the Gospel
Part 2 suggests ways that we can leave a good mom legacy by living our lives in a way that reflects the teachings of the Gospel. Some of these ways include:
How to purposefully put God first in your life
How to pray powerfully and effectively
How to teach your children about God
How to forgive
How to cling to the Word of God
How to learn contentment and joy in your crazy, messy and dysfunctional life
At the end of each day’s devotion is a brief “Daily Reflection” section that encourages us readers to apply Biblical stories and scriptures to our everyday life and to connect with God on a deeper level through prayer.
My thoughts about Leaving Your Mom Legacy:
In all honesty, I don’t usually gravitate toward books and devotionals with a parenting focus because my child is grown with children of her own. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this devotional offers encouragement and spiritual insights for everyone.
Whether you are the mom of minor children, adult children, estranged children, or if you have yet to become a mother, this devotional points you into the right direction to leaving a legacy that reflects Christ.
As a grandmother, this devotional inspires me to apply the teachings of the Bible so that I can leave a lasting impression on my grandsons in the hope that they, too, will know and love Jesus.
One of the best things I loved about this devotional is that the author, Kristina Gorr, writes in a personal, engaging style, addressing us “Mommas” as if she is sitting across from us over a cup of coffee.
Kristina writes with a genuine voice about her own experiences and backstory. She is unafraid to admit her own faults and to address the messiness that sometimes accompanies motherhood and life in general. She speaks to our lives, our hearts, our messiness and our weaknesses.
Leaving Your Mom Legacy points out how God can and will use your imperfections and bad choices to work for a greater purpose that can lead others to a fulfilling relationship with Christ.
If you want your children, grandchildren and others to remember you as someone who loved and lived for Jesus, take a look at Leaving Your Mom Legacy. If you are like me, you will be thankful you did.

Between the first half, looking at mothers in the Bible, and the second half, where we studied biblical parenting strategies, I learned so much!
There's no preachiness, as the author steps on her own toes first, before asking "what about you?"
We get to imagine what the mothers in the Bible were thinking and feeling, and apply biblical principles to our daily mothering.
I plan on reading this over every year for the foreseeable future.
I received a copy of this devotional from the author, and chose to review it for you, sharing my honest thoughts.
