What would you do if you were robbed of all the things in your life that were important to you, one by one? How would you cope if you lost your home, your job, your partner, family and friends at the hands of a total stranger? You probably haven't even considered it. Natasha Forrest certainly hadn't. A young woman living an easy, comfortable life in a small City, she has everything she needs to make her happy. Until one day, when the enigmatic Sarah Forbes begins work as a temp in the same office. Sweet and friendly, a lonely girl with a tragic past, trying to start again. A ready-made friend. But Sarah is not the innocent she seems and week by week, Natasha's world begins to crumble into a terrifying living nightmare. Losing the support of everyone she loves and depends on, she is accused of a serious crime and is forced to go on the run, turning to the underbelly of the City to hide. Faced with only unthinkable options in order to survive, fate unexpectedly throws her a lifeline, but in trying to help her, her saviour has unwittingly started a ticking time-bomb that no-one can disarm and now there's nowhere left to run. Because Sarah doesn't just want to take Natasha's family, career and home. She wants to take her life. And she won't stop until she has.
I thought this book was excellent. I have never read this author before and would love to read another book from her. I love books that have me guessing on things and then when I think I've figured it out, I find out I was wrong. This book was hard to put down. Great book, if you love this type of book you should definitely read it. You won't regret it!!
A really enjoyable read. The main character, Natasha’s life spirals into disaster as a new woman at work proceeds to destroy her life. Although the basic traditional plot is clearly signposted by the author as the story develops it is given a new lease of life with the flawed reality of all the players, not just the villain. Natasha herself is a developing alcoholic which tends to weaken her case when trying to persuade others that she is a victim of malice. The only reason that I haven’t given this five stars is that the end trends too much towards traditional romance than thriller, but then again, that is a matter of personal preference and at least it ties up the stories ending clearly.
This book bought back so mush pain to me . I ran away frm. Home at the age of fifteen I got caught up in a white slavery ring. It was a terrible thing but I survived.tell you what you keep writing them and ill keep reading them sincerely Christine Dunne Harlingen Texas
I dont normally leave a review but this book really tugged at the heart strings, it made me cry i was totally lost in the plot .If you only choose 1 book to read this is my all time favorite you wont be disappointed.
Wow, I liked the synopsis and thought this could be a good read. How wrong I was ....this was a fantastic read. A host of characters, a plotline that kept cleverly twisting and weaving. This had me gripped to the very end. Can't wait to read more from Ms Harley.
Covet was an excellent read, it grabs you from the first sentence! Do yourself a big favour and read this awesome book! I’m just going to go look for more books by this author.
I loved this book until the end. The ending had just a little too much of a “rags to riches-knight in shiny armor” type theme. Aside from that the build up and as well done and the plot was well thought out. It just went a little over the top at the end.
I quite enjoyed the story line and characters especially Sarah, mental problems at their worst. There were too many editing mistakes which I think is poor and due to shoddy proof reading.
There came a point in this story when it grabbed me so tight that there was no way I could put it down. The housework went undone, meals were late, and I lost sleep. When the first devastating thing happened to Natasha I thought - here we go - and the rollercoaster began, and what a ride! Then, blow after blow descended on the girl whose life was quickly going down the toilet, and she didn't know why she was being targetted, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. There were times when I thought - okay, nothing else can possibly happen to her - then Natasha is hit again with another clever, evil ploy to ruin her - and I really began to get frightened for her. It was all so plausable. It could really happen to an ordinary person. If someone really has it in for you, then watch out. This author brought the characters to life and I ended up loving and hating them in turn. Well worth the read. You'll love it.
