When Zipporah Rosenberg discovers the body of Miss Burton, her P.E. teacher, she must solve the murder before the police become convinced that she is the killer
The plot meanders in fits and starts, the characterization is inconsistent and confusing (with occasional flashes of something more that never quite pan out), and the resolution comes out of nowhere. The main character is supposed to be a rabbi's daughter. Unfortunately, her father seems not to be religiously consistent either; one minute stricter than many Orthodox rabbis might be, the next completely blasé about things that would barely pass muster in most Conservative homes (let alone a rabbi's!)
As a capper, the cover clearly shows someone from some other book: since the main character is repeatedly referred to as overweight, "zaftig", and chubby, who is this slim model-type?
I recently found my copy (which had been in a box for quite some time) and reread it, sure it couldn't be as bad as I remembered . . . and it wasn't. Quite.
