I read/skimmed this book before starting an occupational therapy internship on the cardiac unit of a large hospital. Obviously, this book is geared toward Docs, RNPs, and PAs, but I was hoping it would have some good info about cardiac conditions that I could draw from. To this end, the first chapter was great, the second not bad, but past that it was definitely not information that I will ever need to know. Of course, I don't fault the book for that! What I fault the book for is having over a dozen cartoon illustrations of doctors and medical students (treating patients, reading ECGs, etc) without portraying even ONE female doctor. Come on guys, this book was published in 2009! In the US the current ratio of female to male medical school grads is 1:1, and 1/3rd of all physicians in the workforce are female. This book does not accurately portray the gender breakdown of our current society. Laaame.
