I didn't go to St. Paul's, but still found it to be a great social history of a unique New England private school and how social changes throughout the 19th and 20th centuries shaped it; great for understanding New England society through a particular perspective.

It's also great for understanding the social context of fiction such as Auchincloss' "The Rector of Justin".
