On the Shoulders of Giants: Selected Biographies of Scientists

Rate this book
On the Shoulders of Selected Biographies of Scientists bridges a gap in reading comprehension, science, and world history instruction. A variety of scientists and their contributions to the scientific world from early atoms to discoveries in DNA are written for students with moderate to severe disabilities particularly around reading. Each biography is no more than two pages, with comprehension questions that directly ask or extend information seeking for students who may be participating and need academic activities at their level to be able to connect to their classmates and science class. Giving students access to biographies of scientists provides connections to materials and activities that might help provide paths to understanding what a general education science teacher may be providing.
