The royal kittens have been getting ready to welcome the royal hounds from Barkshire, especially the puppy prince. Their parents are hoping to establish a new peace with the hounds, despite their rough relationships in the past. There's a huge feast planned which will be provided by the magical Orb of Plenty to celebrate the peaceful relationships between the cat and dog kingdoms. But when the royal hounds arrive they look kind of funny and are not acting at all the way the kittens were told they were. What is going on?

Another fun little mystery to solve and adventure to save the kingdom with the royal kittens. Kids who love animals and fantasy adventures will eat this series up. And I'm impressed by the little touches that help make the world building just a step above the average quickly released lower grade series. Highly recommended.

Notes on content: There's some sinister cheese and a non-injury resulting sword fight, but that's it.

We read this book aloud to Juliana at the start of summer 2020 - right after she finished 1st grade. A friend loaned her the first book and she is reading the series. It's a simple chapter book, good for her age. Fun characters - royal kittens who are undercover superheroes - the whiskered wonders trying to protect the kitizens. Their parents are King Pouncalot and Queen Elizapet. The other kingdom is Barkshire (the dogs) become their friends as the pups help them defeat the bad King Gorgonzola (a rat), his plan to steal the Orb of Plenty and fill the Kitten Kindgom with cheese that makes everyone sleepy. It's a cute, quick read for young girls.

Luis & I read this book aloud to Juliana in the summer after she finished 3rd grade. It's great to see her get into beginner chapter books. This is a quick to read series about the Kitten Kingdom - with King Pouncealot, Queen Elizapet, and their 3 kittens which are undercover superheros - they have to fight the mean rat Gorgonzola. This time Gorgonzola stole the orb of plenty and tried to get take over the kitten kingdom using cheese that made the cats sleepy. But the kittens were able to sink the rat into his own cheese and restore peace to the kingdom.

bumped this up to four stars becuase I liked seeing the kittens putting aside their distrut of dogs to work well with the puppy prince, and becuase the puppy prince was adorable.

Four stars for the story - it’s cute to have cats and dogs getting along despite their differences. But 1 star for the reader. Omg. The audio version is like nails on a chalk board.
