Taken from the blurb of The Air Pilot's Weather Guide:
Ingrid Holford was amongst the first women graduates who were recruited as weather forecasters during the Second World War. She was a WAAF Officer from 1942-46, forecasting and briefing air crew in RAF Training Command. Since the war, Ingrid has written many articles about the weather in various journals, as well as four other books om the subject. She has contributed on weather topics to BBC radio programmes, and for three years was standby forecaster with Southern Television, before its demise.
I really enjoyed this little "how to" book. Yes it's old and dated and of course the info is now very obsolete, nevertheless it was a fascinating read and a product of its age and representative of the info and technology they had to work with then. Full of diagrams, illustrations, even pictures and photographs to highlight the info and even gardening tips and practical advice on how to protect plants in adverse weather conditions. The cloud info was really interesting and how to interpret them as to what was forthcoming weather wise. All in all a great little pocket book and an informative read and though old I did feel I learned a lot as the explanations were technical but not hugely difficult.
