I write about the flashes of light between dreams and darkness. About those who desperately transmit their stories through a spinning wormhole into my brain, before they are lost forever, like grains of stardust in a solar wind. They are my reason, my purpose. My obligation is to them. I promised I would tell their tales. And I will.
I have been writing science fiction and fantasy stories for many years. My writing has an edge to it. I enjoy exploring the dark and surreal landscapes of the mind.
My first fantasy novel, The Crystal Warrior, has just been released. I am currently working on book two in the series.
I also have a science fiction collection called Skin of Giants.
I grew up in Washington State, went to college in New Mexico, and now live in Minnesota. I am an Engineering Consultant (nerd) for a large retail corporation during the day, and a fiction writer / musician at night.
I live in the suburbs, just north of Minneapolis, with one wife (dancer), one kid (boy), and two cats (fat).
This novella is best described as surreal and eerie. It opens from the point of view of someone or something that has left Earth and is traveling through space. This character wakes up at various points in time from cryogenic sleep. After this vignette, the point of view shifts between characters, hence the almost Murakami-like stream of consciousness pace/structure. The reader is able to sense the relationships between scenes, but an exact chronology is difficult to pin down. Perhaps that'll come to me on a second reading. This book is enjoyable. I do recommend being in a state of mind where you can let the words do what they will.
