Don't bother with this one. I'm really glad I read Zigzag and the Athenian Murders before this one because if I hadn't I would have thought him a below mediocre writer. The story-telling is dull and often incoherent, there are random ideas being thrown out without any reason or logic. Some events take place all of a sudden, with no explanation. The characters are flat and uninteresting, and plot itself drags on and on before giving you one semi-decent plot twist which also feels haphazard, as if the author just thought of it on the spot whilst writing and didn't bother polishing it later on. Honestly, just skip the book.

Byc moze z wiekiem intryguje mnie on coraz mniej, wszak "Jaskinie filozofów" przeczytalam dekadę temu.

I gather from the reviews down here that this might not be the author's best novel. But for me it's been an entertaining read, it took me two sittings flying to and from Asturias, and I remember I liked how it intertwined literary-philosophical reflections, although I don't exactly agree with some of the character's (or are they the author's) approaches about youth's behavior, etc.

4 stars out of 5, I really enjoyed the read.
