Human Relations: The Art and Science of Building Effective Relationships

Rate this book
Relationships are the very foundation of our lives. Whether personal or professional, our ability to understand and commuinicate effectively with the people in our lives can make the difference between a satisfying, fulfilling life and one filled with tension and frustration. With this in mind, it's suprising that so few of us take the time to critcally examine the makeup and workings of these connections. Here, with Vivian Hamilton's Human The Art and Science of Building Effective Relationships, we are given the opportunity to do so. This text examines human relations by integrating key components of successful internal influences on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; external or sociocultural influences; and communication principles and skill building. These main features help drive students towards better understanding and more effective communication within all of their relationships.

Read for school.
About as unexciting (while using informal, peppy language to try and SEEM exciting) as most school textbooks.

I love this book! I bought this for an Intro to Human Relations class (upper division at a 4 year university). The book is appropriate for an intro class: All the bases are covered, in just enough detail. There is a lot of great, basic information in here. Nearly every theory and idea explained in the book has a relatable example. It's written in a VERY accessible way, without feeling like the author is talking down to you. I think anyone from high school (even middle school?) could read this and enjoy it.
This book was definitely the best part of the class! After the class I didn't sell the book back, and I still open it up from time to time, and used it as a reference source for other courses.
