Rain, who is adopted and sometimes makes Chinese dumplings with her American mother, goes to school and learns that--just like people--there are many different kinds of dumplings that come from all over the world and they are all tasty.
Dumplings are Delicious is a book that resents that inclusivity, in a way through dumplings. The main character (the one on the cover) and her friends find out that dumplings come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and they all taste delicious! This is a fun book to read and the message is clear enough for young children to obtain while reading with possibly some guiding questions, which leads me to how I would use this book for my future classroom because the overall message that it is portraying is one that I would love for my future teacher to listen to!
The story is sweet, with the emphasis on each child's curiosity and discovery about another's culture. Thankfully the author includes pronunciation for each of the "dumplings." I learned something, too!
