The action-packed third book in the exciting "Timber: United States Marshal" western series!
Cassidy Beemer headed west to start a new chapter of his life. Hired on as a buffalo shooter for a hide company, he realized he was a damn good shot with his Sharpe 50-caliber rifle. Turns out, his shooting skills earned him a reputation, and when he found himself again at loose ends, those skills were put to use against bad men for good money. Killing bad men is still killing, however... and Jake Timber, U.S. Marshal sets out to right some wrongs.
Not quite sure of the e n ding of Marshal Timber who was undercover trying to rote out a Mr. Holt who was a government man buying beef for the Army. He was crooked as the letter "S." Cassidy Beemer consciously got caught up in killing for money. Rich ranchers got together and hired Mr. Beemer who knew what he was doing it was easy money to kill someone six hundred yards or more with his sharpness rife. Again Timber suspects that Cass Beemer is a killer we'll go so far as to label him a "serial killer." So now Timber has the proof and Cass Beemer is being tried for murder of three or men. He's found guilty, and he'll be hanged the next day. Mr. Beemer said he was a good man who was ridding the world of bad men who cheated, murdered..He admitted the killings not good, well anyway the day of the hanging Cass again proclaimed his reasons for killing those men, all of a sudden Mr. Cass Beemer fell over with blood exploding over everyone c lose to the gallows, he had been shoot through the back with a sharps, more than two thousand feet away by Timber..I don't understand ,he was going to die so why shoot him...very strange..now it's a MYSTERY in town, did they accuse the wrong man????interesting ending isn't it????
Good book with enough gunplay to satisfy most of you, I'm sure. Not much time between gunplays, but the story definitely is impressive. The end is a little bizarre, but believable. I am definitely impressed with Mr. Hanlon's apparent knowledge of his descriptive adventures from beginning to end.
Most definitely a five star bonanza for Mr. Hanlon, as his innovative and exciting adventures leaves one almost spellbound. His character selection is definitely above and beyond the normal expectations of most readers.
Too, the storylines always maintained my interest throughout the entire novel. There were enough shootings to maintain the reader's attention from beginning to end, and the author apparently has done his homework, as he apparently had the general knowledge of the era.
Most definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to read the unsuspecting as you will most definitely be impressed with the ending of this book. Looking forward to the next episode of Marshal and his unsuspecting volatile encounters.
Kind of a sad twisted ending. won’t sleep tonight.
Wow,wow, wow! I expected a different ending. I don’t think Timber is much different than Cassidy. I thought maybe it was going to be a trick hanging and Cassidy would go free and help Timber in ridding evil in the land. Cassidy was tricked and misguided a bit. He shot Cassidy but what about Arnell’s evil conspiring group? I almost wished I hadn’t read this book. It has left turmoil inside of me. There was no justice and the people he shot deserved it! Cassidy was in prison for what he did. He also was a good man, but he took care of the evil to stop further evil. I just think the story was so off and unfair.
The (3rd) Western in the Timber, US Marshal/ A Young Man Becomes a Killer
RH has penned the (3rd) Novel in the Timber, US Marshal. This western shows a young man leaves his home town to make his fortune. He buys a Sharps Sniper Rifle and accept a position as a Buffalo Hunter. These leads to a new job as a contract killer for hire. His work does well until Marshal Timber gets the job. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
This is book three is a series that is great so far. Most are around a hundred pages, lots of action, no love interests. This one was written in first person who is ancillary to Jake Timber. I enjoyed the style.
Yes, I love cowboy tales. Yet even though the title tells it all, I started reading never looking at that title again. You'll never guess who done what ... so enjoy!!!
I liked everything about this book from beginning to the end and there was nothing I didn't like except the man who hired him didn't get caught & have to pay.
Muh ie has passed between this story and the previous one. Timber is still a U.S. Marshal, still killing, still looking for bad men, and still doing his job.
