Malformations

Rate this book
Human malformations, in particular those of the central nervous system, are no less perplexing today than they were ten years ago. However, the last decade has witnessed considerable progress in the diagnosis and treatment of these malformations. CAT, PET, NMR, amniocentesis, chorionic villus biopsy, sonography and other constantly refined diagnostic methods have made possible the safe and early detection of many malformations of the brain and spinal cord. In addition great progress has been made in the field of cytogenetics and gene mapping to help identify chromosomal defects. The present volume concentrates on these areas of progress rather than completely reviewing the contents of the three volumes on malformations which were published in the original series of the Handbook of Clinical Neurology.
