★★★★★ "This intriguing story pulls you out of your comfort world - right into a dark one!" - Reader review___

My name is Billy Bright. A few years ago I met a stranger from Prague. His life story deeply touched me and turned my soul. It is an entirely different and inspiring life experience! Based on the true story, the tale fascinates, intrigues, and overwhelms the reader who suddenly finds himself in the middle of the wicked and mysterious world of the Greenwich café. This unobtrusive coffee house situated at the corner of a park, indistinguishable from many others, hides a dirty business. Hopeless young boys sell their bodies to the wealthiest, most influential, and most powerful people. Billy is one of those boys. The reader will find out how he gets captured at the scene of the organized crime, how he learned from his mistakes, and how he tries to survive at whatever cost. This tale will captivate from the very beginning and is guaranteed to engrain itself deeply in your heart!

‘I would have agreed to anything then.’

A new novelist make is debut with DOUBLE-BOTTOMED CAFÉ and it is an auspicious beginning for a writer who not only writes well but is unafraid to explore the interstices of a dark subject matter – childhood prostitution. Billy Bright is the author’s name and his biographical comments deserve sharing. ‘A few years ago I had met a stranger occasionally in a typical beer pub in Munich. It was still early evening when I passed by the pub. I just finished the semester successfully and wanted to drink a couple of lovely Augustiner. He was sitting at the bar alone for a while and had a sad look. I greeted the stranger warmly and ordered my beer. Probably my happy look was too contrast to his sad eyes that forced him to pay attention. He had a glass with a Radler that really surprised me. Radler is neither beer nor lemonade. One must hate both to drink it. I was young and emotionally overwhelmed, so I shared my opinion over Radler. He smiled in a friendly way and our dispute over beer begun. The argument was so exciting that I did not notice how I had ordered the fourth glass of beer. Getting drunk already I moved from dispute to personal life stories and difficulties in my life. At the moment when I told that want to be a writer but cannot find a proper story for the first novel, the stranger interrupted me. What I heard after deeply shocked me. He shared own life story from Prague giving ideas for the novel. He was so sincere that I wasn't able to feel doubt. I shut my mouth and completely plunged into his story. I imagined myself a lonely cafe in the park. I tried to draw out the outlines of the faces of the heroes, to understand their hidden thoughts. In the end, I was completely exhausted by the mix of feelings. We ended up in a deep night and left the pub the last. He hugged me tightly and wished good luck with the novel. Then he walked away and disappeared in the darkness of the night of Munich. It was Billy, the hero of the "Double-bottomed cafe". That is the story of my first novel

Billy’s story is based on a true story of Billy from Prague, and the wicked and mysterious world of the Greenwich café. This unobtrusive coffee house situated at the corner of a park, indistinguishable from many others, hides a dirty business. Hopeless young boys, the Grennwich kids, are selling their bodies to the richest, most influencing and powerful people. Billy is one of those boys. The other characters in this touching story are Derek the master who places the boys with rich clients and Tom who becomes the singular love of Billy’s existence. Organized crime, the punishment that accompanies it, and the manner in which it affects both the boys and the procurers is a revealing and touching drama.

For a debut this is an extraordinarily fine beginning. With time Billy will flesh out his peripheral characters with more finesse and pace his plot more convincingly when he composes a novel longer than 73 pages, but his talent is obviously present – he will be an author to watch. Recommended.

I found this book a compelling read and just wish the author would have been able to tell the whole story. Meet Billy from Prague, a young man, really just a teenager who end up on the streets after horrendous circumstances. Life out on the streets is not charming, fun or something people should ever have to endure. This is the story of one person who went through hell looking for love and acceptance.

I enjoyed reading this story!

“Double-bottomed Café” by Billy Bright is a gripping and emotionally intense novel that delves into the dark subject matter of childhood prostitution. The story follows the life of, a homeless individual in Prague, who encounters Derek, a man associated with an exclusive club, offering them a chance at a better life. The narrative took me through a rollercoaster of emotions as the narrator navigates their relationships with various sponsors, including the enigmatic Tom.
Bright's writing style is engaging and thought-provoking, immersing me in the narrator's world. The vivid descriptions of Prague and its contrasting landscapes evoke a strong sense of place and set the stage for the protagonist's struggles and triumphs. Bright does not shy away from exploring the complexities of love, abuse, manipulation, and the pursuit of survival. The character development is one of the strengths of this novel. The narrator's journey from homelessness to finding sponsors and experiencing both love and heartbreak is portrayed with rawness and vulnerability. The supporting characters, such as Derek and Tom, add depth to the story, each bringing their own unique dynamics to the protagonist's life.
The book tackles sensitive and controversial themes with sensitivity and tact, shedding light on the dark underbelly of society while maintaining the humanity of its characters. Overall, this is a powerful novel that tackles difficult subject matter with grace and authenticity. Despite its dark themes, the novel left me with a glimmer of hope, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit.
