This is definitely the wrong title for this book however, it was a good read. The story is about a young man reminiscing about the summers that he spent at his grandmother's house. The main characters were the narrator, his parents, his siblings and cousins. I loved the fact that he talked about the out house that his grandma still has as well as the tales about what they used to do during the time that they were there. As a literacy teaacher I would use it to teach about different types of families and how some people still use things that they used many years ago. Students would be so intrigued to see how their grandparents used to live and the things that they used to have. We could even compare and contrast present day to the past. The author is african american and I'm sure that her grandparents had a large majority of the things that were talked about in the story. This was not quite relevant to our topic becuse it wasn't about single parent families or adoption.
