I write about painfully awkward, usually embarrassing, romance because long confident gazes followed by sexy dancing NEVER happens to me.

I am a native of the Pacific Northwest, and will probably never leave. I'm like a hypochondriac sundae, with claustrophobic sprinkles, and a big cherry of anxiety on top, so I don't travel much. I read to relax my mind, so I love getting lost in someone else’s story, even if it is only for a little while.

Cute, fun, at times hysterically funny, Embracing Fate is a quick, enjoyable read.

It's a novella, and quite short at that, and things move quickly between Jack and Seth because they're mates. I would have liked a little more world building and to know why Seth has the issues that he does, but maybe that was explained in the first book?

I haven't read the first book in the series, Denying Fate but I am absolutely going to check it out and I'm definitely looking forward to the third book, Fearing Fate.

What I loved most in this was Max. His interactions with Seth and Zeus made this such a pleasure and I found myself snickering and laughing out loud more than once.

This was a short and sweet book about a shifter with terrible ideas on a quest to get closer to his mate.

It was full of laughter and unbelievable utterances from Max(Seth's best friend), but still managed to get in some heart as well.

I didn't think the "love" was realistic , especially given that they barely knew each other and Jack had discovered a pretty big secret about Seth. However, there was definitely the potential for more which sealed my rating for this book. Oh and there are NO sexy times but it worked perfectly for the tone and feel of the story.

Zeus' book is next. I just might read it.

This book was seriously the funniest book I’ve read in a while, I was laughing the entire time.

Seth is hilarious and totally steals the show in this book. I absolutely love his character. While I really liked book one and the main character for that book, Max, Seth’s best friend, Seth has surpassed my love for Max. LOL. Max is an awesome and slightly, completely insane Omega. Seth is just a smaller wolf shifter, who finds his mate in a human named Jack who recently moved to town. Jack is a dog trainer. When Max and Seth come up with a totally harebrained and crazy scheme for Seth to get closer to Jack, without telling him he’s a shifter, this book gets interesting. And freaking Funny!! We’re talking wolf shifter and dog trainer, you can only imagine what will happen… This book and the series has been great so far. I was really looking forward to this one after I read book one. And now I am really looking forward to book three.

Embracing Fate is the second book in the A Series of Fate series by C.C. Dado. This book is just as good as the first book. The plot is fun, and the characters are lovable. It’s a short story, and like the first book, there are no on-page sex scenes. I did like getting to see more of Max and Christian and Zeus, who is the alpha’s second-in-command. Oh, and I did like how some of the lies that Seth tells end up having some funny consequences. Poor Zeus is never going to believe anything Seth says again.

I greatly enjoyed getting to read about Seth finding his mate. That his mate is a human and a dog trainer is a complication until Seth convinces his best friend Max to pretend that Seth, in his wolf form, needs training. His best friend tries to point out that it isn’t the best idea since the towns’ people, which go through a very strict background check to get to live there on a month to month lease, have no idea that a wolf shifter pack owns the town. Seth and Max risk the alpha’s displeasure should Jack, the dog trainer, find out that the wolf he’s training is actually Seth, his next-door neighbor and owner of Sweets and Meats bakery. But Seth can’t think of any other way to interact with his mate with how painfully shy he is and the anxiety he has around strangers. What they didn’t expect was that Jack would form such a close bond with Max’s pet wolf that he would want to adopt him from Max. One of my favorite parts of the book is when Jack, Seth in wolf form, and Jack’s dog, Winston, are all basking in Jack’s yard after a training session and they all fall asleep and Seth shifts back into his human form. And he has to sneak back to his bakery naked with only some shrubs to preserve his modesty.

I loved the part of the book when Seth is in the back baking, and he overhears his new neighbor, Jack, giving commands to his dog, Winston, and Seth’s wolf responds to them also leaving him sitting on the floor of the bakery and then lying there a minute later. I couldn’t stop giggling. And that was only one of the parts that had me laughing. The book was just fun to read, and sometimes you just want to be entertained without having to pay a whole lot of attention to make sure that you didn’t miss something.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Fearing Fate which is going to be about Zeus finding his mate.

This has been the funniest series. Oh my word. I'm telling you, the hijinks of Seth and Max make these books and this series just amazing.
This book has Seth meeting his mate. Who is human. And a dog trainer. When Jack speaks, Seth's wolf can't help but obey and it's freaking him out. So he and Max plan to make Seth's wolf Max's pet that needs training. Only it's even funnier because Seth told a fun about Max, which Max is milking for all it's worth btw, but to get back at Seth for it, he calls Seth's wolf, Nancy. Oh these boys. It works for a bit. Seth's wolf bonds to Jack and Jack wants to adopt him. He's also getting to know Seth and is falling in love. Until one bad night, when Jack finds out the secrets of what's really going on and is completely freaked out. And it may be over for good.
It breaks my heart for Seth. He's lonely without Max at night. He's lonely with no mate. And because of how he sees himself, as a freak, (you'll have to read to find out why) he's afraid no one will want him. When he meets Jack all he wants to do is climb him like a tree in both forms. But how do you tell a human you shift into a wolf? He wasn't even thinking of the trouble he could have caused the pack itself, he just wanted his mate. And my heart broke.
It's a lot for Jack to take in for sure when he finds out. Even as much as I love the idea of shifters, I think it would scare the shit out of me as well. It's a tough story. I cried. But because of tweedle Dee and tweedle dum, it was funny as hell too. And I'm really falling for Christian's bodyguard and beta, Zeus. He's a special guy.

Better than the first one, and I’m glad the storyline felt a lot smoother, probably in part because it was a more single chunk of time rather than time jumps. Still mainly only an okay read though; not quite as amusing as I’d hoped from the blurb. I love a comedy of errors (“what could go wrong?”) but this wasn’t really a comedy at all.

Content notes:

🐾 referenced sexual activity
🐾 abusive father in past, secondary character
🐾 death in past
🐾 “just friends”
🐾 casual ableism
🐾 joke about suicide (embarrassed so try to smother himself in a pillow)
🐾 drugged
🐾 unwanted aggression, getting into personal space
🐾 murder, death

I love this series. I think Max and Seth are my two of my favorite characters. I love their interaction with each other and their antics make me laugh out loud. The stunt they pull on poor Zeus was particularly funny. I think my only nit-pik to this story was the abrupt ending. I was enjoying it so much that I wished it was longer. Overall, it was wonderful and I can’t wait for Zeus’s story.

this is a good story.. but part of this made me really sad.. i felt really bad for jack.. especially once he finds out about his mate.. i also laughed a lot... watching jack training seth and seth's name as a wolf was hysterical.. i had a lot of fun reading this.. this series isnt steamy but it is short and sweet.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Seth so adorable and shy, he comes up with a crazy plan to actually meet and send time with his mate but it allows him the opportunity to find the ability to relax around Jack. I really liked Jack for who he is and how open he was to this new community he lived in, though I felt his initial reaction to shifters was strange he did come through in the end.

I liked Max much more in the story and found him hilarious at times, he was the perfect complement to Seth’s shyness. I loved that Jack felt such a connection to Seth’s wolf even before he knew the truth about everything,

The cover art by Brooke Albrecht is once again nice, it follows the same style as before but gives us a visual of Seth.

Seth, a teenage shifter, lives above the bakery he runs with his friend. When a human dog trainer moves in next door, Seth's life turns upside down. His body starts to react to the handsome neighbor in an unforeseen way. But how is it even possible when Jack is just a human? If that was not enough, Seth doesn't have the courage to get to know his neighbor better, and due to this fact he needs to find another, unconventional way to get closer to him, even if not everyone would like his idea.

I would like to start the review of "Embracing Fate", the second volume of "A Series of Fates", by going back to the already discussed in my review of the first book topic of humor. As it happens, this installment is even more funny than the previous one, all thanks to the great story and the unique characters who really don't let us get bored and who make us smile all the time. And that's exactly the thing which I would like to put a special emphasis on, because the humorous side of this story is linked not only to the characters and their comments, words, but also to the situations they need to face. Thus, the comic side of this novella is fully elaborated, and I really love it. The great advantage of this book is also the fact that the mentioned humor is easy to understand for every reader, because it's very simple and that is why it is so amazingly funny.

However, "Embracing Fate" also has its more serious and deeper side, because it focuses on the topic of overcoming fear and oneself, getting out of a safe shell, facing anxiety and situations that increase this anxiety. I really liked the fact that Seth, who doesn't feel comfortable in his own human skin, decides to use his animal half to achieve his goal. In this case it is not important whether he manages to do it or not. What I think is the most important is the fact that the boy tries, thinks, looks for a way to overcome, outwit himself. However, I must add that Seth's development, which we have the opportunity to see, is also not without significance, as it perfectly complements the problem raised in this novella.

I admit that in "Embracing Fate" my heart also conquered the fact that C.C. Dado puts emphasis on getting to know the other person, despite the fact that the mates are in a way imposed by the fate. In literature we usually see a tendency to choose the simplest solution, and thus: fate knows best and certainly is not mistaken. In this story, however, the situation is different – fate chose, but the man/shifter verifies. I think that it is simply wonderful, because the characters do not fall in love with the idea of the other person, but in a real person, in who they are with their strong points and flaws. This is all the more important because in the previous volume we saw a nightmare of a relationship with a fated mate, who was not a good person. I'm therefore glad that C.C. Dado doesn't make the slaves of fate out of the characters, but lets them make their own conscious decisions.

To sum up, I think "Embracing Fate" is a really great novella which is even better than the previous one. This is a hilarious story about a shy boy with some complexes who hides from other people but who at all costs tries to face his fears and give himself a chance for love. I really fell in love with this story and I can recommend it to you with a clear conscience.

I was delighted to jump into Seth’s story as I really liked him when I met him in Max’s novella. Seth is Max’s best friend and, to be honest, not as ditzy as Max. Seth is more levelheaded and rational than Max so it was no surprise that when Jack moved in next door and Seth realized this human was his mate, well, he went a wee bit batty himself.

Now, Seth doesn’t have a telenovela going on in his head (and streaming out of his mouth) 24/7 like Max does, but his idea to get to know Jack by being a “dog” Jack needs to train is certainly not exactly rational. Funny, but not ideal. Granted, Seth doesn’t do well with people at all and his anxiety over trying to talk to his mate when he’s a man is just too overwhelming. I knew it wasn’t going to take Christian, pack alpha, all that long before he realized something was going on and stepped in to rectify the situation. In this world humans don’t know about shifters, so Seth can’t run the risk of endangering his pack until he’s sure that Jack will accept the mating and hold their secrets.

This is the second installment of the Series of Fates books set in the town of Easter Valley, where you have to fill out an application and pass a background check and interview process to live there. “We created Easter Valley so we could be part of the world without risking our people.” The shifters mostly work in town and live in the commune, but Seth is one of the few town dwellers. He moved there because his best friend, Max, had trouble in the commune and needed to get away and after Max found his mate (book one), he just stayed. He owns and operates a baker, Sweets and Meats, with Max.
I think I’ll need to go read the first book because Max is something else. This book opens with Max moving out of Seth’s house in order to live with his mate, the Alpha Christian. Max is having a hard time with it and Seth is pushing him to do what’s right. “Oh my God,” Max gasped in outrage. “You’re not doing this to be supportive of my relationship. You don’t want me to live here anymore, do you? And here I was worried about leaving you alone.” They are besties, these two. “I am the most self-centered friend alive.” That’s Max’s opinion of himself. “You are not,” Seth assured him, even though sometimes he kind of was.”
Seth is conscious of his looks, with one bright blue and one brown eye. He wears his bangs long and sometimes is convinced he won’t ever find his mate. When a new neighbor, the dog-trainer Jack, moves in Seth is smitten and knows finally, this is his mate. The moment when he first hears Jack is hysterical and made me laugh out loud.
Seth is super shy, though, so his brilliant (snort) plan is to have Max take him over in wolf form for training and that way he can get to know Jack. This of course can’t end well, whether it is from Christian finding out the plan; Max not only taking Seth to Jack’s on a leash but informing Jack his wolf’s name is Nancy; “…an 8x10 photo of Seth in a collar, running naked, covering his crotch with branches…” ; or worst of all, the way Jack finds out the truth about shifters.
We also get to see beta Zeus, a seven foot gentle giant who is lovely. When he thinks Max is pregnant (due to a Seth lie), the foot rubs and care for Max were adorable. I want him to find someone special and I hope his book is next.
This is a cute series and I will go back and read the first one to see how Max and Christian got together.

Seth and Max are best friends, but since Max found his mate, Seth has been living on his own. Then a new neighbor, Jack, moves in, and Seth’s wolf does interesting things when he hears Jack’s voice.

It’s a delightfully cute story. Seth is a kind, shy guy with a self-esteem issue and never expects to find his mate. He’s a master chef, too, with a good business, so why the low self-esteem, I’m not sure. His best friend is boisterous and outgoing and the two balance each other very well.

One of the delights of Embracing is the banter between Seth and Max and the humor tied to their deep appreciation and affection for each other. It’s all ribbing all the time, and Max doesn’t really seem to have an off button, but it’s fun to read and had me laughing out loud several times. So, Seth decides to pretend to be Max’s unruly pet and the hijinks unfolding from that were fun and light-hearted. There’s the pregnancy lie that keeps on giving (poor Zeus) and Seth’s rotating dog name.

The work is short, so there are certainly scenes I wish I could have read, like seeing Jack’s reaction when Seth willingly shifts for him. I wanted to see that!!

Note: These are not steamy, and it fits the sweet, innocent nature of the series. These stories are ‘finding mates’ stories and have to do more with love and connection than passion and sex.

This is book 2 in A Series of Fates and it can be read on its own but I think you would understand things and who the other characters much better if you read in order. They are short and fun so go ahead and read the other one!

This is Seth's story and I loved him so much in book one I couldn't wait for this one. I also liked it better. Seth is sweet but has picked up some bad habits from his bestie Max. I loved some of the lies he told to get what he wanted and the laughs I got from some of them.

Jack is the new guy in town and a human. He is also a dog trainer. When Seth first heard the new man's commands outside the window and hit the floor sitting, I thought I would choke from laughing so hard.

I also liked getting deeper glimpses of Zeus the bad boy Beta with a big heart. I can't wait for his book next.
This is a short, funny book that will make you smile, laugh and sigh. There is no sex in this one which I was kind of glad. It just wasn't needed.

I liked this tale a lot more than the first one. Max is still a whirlwind of chaos and brightens everything up, but this story is about Seth finding his mate, his human mate. Jack is a dog trainer and when he meets Seth, he thinks the guy is beautiful. Because Seth is so shy around people he doesn't know, he concocts a plan to spend time with Jack as a wolf. It leads to a lot of hilarious situations.

I was happy to see things work out for Seth and Jack, who was a great guy and perfect for Seth. I was happy that he forgave Seth for the deception. I liked that we saw plenty of Max in this one and could see how his standing in the pack and his gift were helping. I liked the playful banter and relaxed side of Christian we see in this book as well. I liked Zeus and can't wait to see what his story will be like.

Embracing Fate is the second book in the Series of Fates series by C.C. Dado. It is a fun continuation about the characters in this series. We get to know them a little bit better and I found it hilarious and sweet.i honestly laughed out loud especially during scenes between Seth and Max. Really like those two besties.

It is told through Seth's point of view. It was great to hear the thoughts of this funny, young man who is trying to figure it all out. Jack is a fun character as well and I thought the two of them worked well. All of these characters are entertaining and interesting and I really need Zues' story now.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This was a good addition to the series! After meeting Seth, I was excited to get his story and see him really come out of his shell. While this book was short like the last one, I felt like we got a little more detail and got to know him and the other characters a lot more. We get to know Max, too, better in this one and it made me connect to his character a lot more. He was actually pretty hilarious!

I enjoyed the build-up between Jack and Seth and how much time we got to see them spend together. There was a little bit of angst in this story but nothing too over the top. I am now ready for Zeus to get his HEA!

Shy,sweet, introverted Seth is a bit envious of Max' happiness with Christian. He's convinced, though, that he has slim chances of ever finding his own mate ,so imagine his surprise when the long awaited one shows up next door and he's...gasp!...not only human, but ironically, also a drog trainer...

Embracing Fate is short and really funny. Between Seth's decision that the way to meet his mate should be in his wolf form,in need of training, Max' shenanigans, and a lot of other entertaining circumstances, I couldn't stop laughing all through the book.

Sweet romance, cute characters, laughter, family and love...this book is absolutely a must read.

This was a sweet story, but surprisingly quite funny too! I throughly enjoyed the humor, it was very easy to laugh at and appreciate.

I mostly decided to buy this book because of the wolf and man interaction, I find it really fun to read about that.

This was my first read by C.C. Dado, and it was a good first impression, the writing was great, so I’ll be checking out some more books by this author.

It was meh. Ridiculous plot, contrived tension and it was so boring I was skipping a lot from about 50% just to get it over with.
I will not proceed with these series. Sadly this author is not for me.

Much better than book one.

This book felt a lot more authentic to me than book one, which is unusual – usually the sequel in any series is the lesser – but not this time!

I thought it was hysterical – really funny at times – and pretty smexy as well. There is a lot of unresolved sexual tension and then some resolved chemistry as well!

The “misunderstanding” is resolved fairly quickly and all in all I really thought this fixed a lot of the “errors” I saw in book 1.

Recommended!

I loved Seth in the previous book. I was thrill to see he was going to get his own book. I liked this book so much more than the first instalment of the series. Seth was a lovely main character.

It was a much more romantic book. I loved that it wasn’t a book charge with a lot of sex. The romance was very subtle, holding hands, soft kisses, everything was very sweet and so character appropriate. It kept some of the sense of humor, still coming from Max’s side, which was entertaining most of the time, without being too much. Max still bother me sometimes but I’d learn to like him and enjoy his presence. I didn’t liked the pack’s dynamic that much, it doesn’t really feel like a strong bond between all of them, at least not as s pack.

I liked the writing and this couple was adorable. Both main characters were very charming. I liked Seth’s shyness and Jack’s calming presence. There are some conflicts but, in general it is very low angst on it. It was a beautiful romance. Overall I had a really good time reading this book. I would love to see what the next instalments will bring.
