The new edition of Jenny Keal's popular book 'Painting with Pastels' is an inspiring and creative introduction to painting with soft pastels, an exciting and rewarding medium. This is not really for the beginning artist. It has very good explanation of the basics of supplies, setup, theory. This isn't a step-by-step, but the demonstrations are of beautiful, but intimidating projects, at least for me as a beginning artist. The shortest project has 46 steps. I loved the artwork, but at this stage in my development as an artist, it is way over my head.
This book was incredibly helpful. The author not only gives step by step instructions, she included a picture with each step to show how each part was created. I have the kindle version but I think I may want the physical book to get a better look at each picture. As a former teacher, I found the directions clear. I recommend.
