The Truth Room

Rate this book
"Lying is easy. We all do it. It's the lazy way out of any argument, a contagious slipknot for spinning failure into success. I was the worst. I lied to get ahead. I lied to hold others back. I lied for no reason other than to perpetuate an image of perfection I'd managed to manufacture at the cost of my soul. I was a cardboard cutout, shaped in the likeness of those I one day intended to replace. Subconsciously, I hated the person I'd become, but it's hard to break a habit without an incentive. I was thirty-four years old when I told my last lie, and as it turns out, I had an incentive after all, though I never would have known it the first time I stepped into the Truth Room." --Daniel Killick More than a just a bar, the Truth Room is an experience. Six floors, each offering a unique theme, make up the vintage building hidden at the center of a bustling city-isolated from the rest of the world. The Truth Room is the only place where people are free to be authentic without fear of consequence, yet admissions in the Truth Room are expected to stay in the Truth Room. Violation of this agreement is grounds for expulsion. Dan Killick and Rachel Hodges are new members. They're also not very likeable people given their propensity for lying in order to push their own agendas. The two are workplace rivals, but after witnessing the fatal shooting of an unarmed teen at the hands of police, the only refuge they have is within the sanctity of the Truth Room. As Dan and Rachel begin unraveling details of the shooting that reach as high as the state capitol, they are faced with a choice: Expose the truth to quell the civil unrest growing in the streets or keep their secret to preserve the magical place that turned their lives around.

Truth Is, It’s Really Good

This book contains all of my favorite things: mystery and romance with a twist! Jonathan is clever and witty and keeps you turning the pages. It’s a great story line, believable, and filled with some raw emotion and character growth. Highly recommend reading!
