Wow, what a great book. If you're interested in keeping up your own car, this is the book to get. I wish I'd had this book years ago. It goes step by step through the process of maintaining all the major systems of your car that you are *likely* to tackle. These include: jacking the car, oil changes, brake changes (pads, rotors, calipers), coolant changes, auto transmission fluid changes, code reading, ignition system, etc. It talks about tools and oil and books and lubricants and everything else you need to safely do this work yourself. It does this through great photos and readable text.
Frankly, this is what I always wished a Clymer's or Haynes was, since a lot of the content in those books goes unused by me. These days you rarely have to dig into the engine of a modern auto. But if you keep up the stuff in this book yourself, your car will get 150-200k miles and you'll save many thousands in labor.
