Willow on the River

Rate this book
Camilla Ashforth's tender images create a nostalgic world exuding the innocence of childhood - a world that readers will want to visit again and again.

One day Willow the bear, who lives on Paradise Farm, looks out from his barn and says, "I must spend today on the river." And in Willow by the River - accompanied by his good friend Finley - he does just that. With Camilla Ashforth’s luminous illustrations capturing the most carefree pleasures of summer, who could ask for a better day?

Simply beautiful and calming, it’s great as a bedtime story and I would call it a classic in my home. My kids 5 and 2 love it and ask for it every now and then. The soft watercolours are just dreamy and my son is enchanted by the friendship and freedom pictured in this book. The song/poem is something both my kids look forward to hearing again and again.
