Ever since her high-school love skipped out on her, leaving her as a pregnant teenager, Jenny Maxwell has had little interest in pursuing a serious relationship. When she gets to know sexy Surrey doctor Aiden Harris, she gains not just a friend but the ideal tenant for her home when she takes up a temporary contract in Scotland.
Arriving in Edinburgh, Jenny runs into Charlie Maclean, the father of her adult son. Totally unprepared for Charlie’s surprising reaction, and her own response, she attempts to discern if her feelings are real or simply a trick of nostalgia. One man—especially this man—is hard enough to deal with. Two is a nightmare. So when, despite the distance between them, Aiden breaks out of the friend zone, life becomes even more complicated.
Family dynamics, sexual chemistry, and trust all fight to be the decisive factor in Jenny’s heart as she faces a choice that will change everything.
Holly James was born and raised with her three siblings in Norfolk, England. She packed her bags at eighteen to spend the next four years at university. She lived in Newcastle, Birmingham, London, France, and Spain before settling in beautiful New Zealand.
Her daily loves are good coffee, writing, and her family—the order depending on what kind of day she’s having.
Really loved this. Holly James’s series keeps getting better with every book. This very funny, occasionally heartbreaking story centres around Jenny, Lou’s friend from the last book, whose life turns upside down when, after 28 years, she bumps into the boy who got her pregnant as a teenager. Also on the scene is hot doctor Aiden, who rents Jenny’s house. I have my suspicions about who Tess is dating, so I can’t wait for a book about her, or one about Suze who has just moved to New Zealand. Highly recommended.
