Tom Bennett was a teacher in inner-city London schools for thirteen years.

Currently he is the Director and founder of researchED, a grass-roots organisation that aims to make teachers research-literate and pseudo-science proof.

Since 2013 researchED has grown from a tweet to an international conference movement that so far has spanned three continents and six countries. He is also the series editor for the best-selling range of researchED books, and the editor of the quarterly researchED magazine.

In 2009 he was made a Teacher Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University. From 2008-2016 he wrote a weekly column for the TES and TES online, and is the author of five books on teacher-training, behaviour management and educational research. In 2015 he was long listed for the GEMS Global Teacher Prize, and in that year was listed as one of the Huffington Post’s ‘Top Ten Global Educational Bloggers’.

In March 2017, Tom published a review of behaviour in schools for the UK Department of Education (DfE). In 2019 he chaired the Behaviour Management Group for the DfE and was appointed their independent Behaviour Advisor. He trains teachers and schools around the world in all aspects of behaviour management and research integration. He currently leads the Department for Education’s Behaviour Hubs project, a £10 million program designed to reboot behaviour skills in disadvantaged schools throughout the UK.

This is a cool book If you are a football fan, a fan of the game, a fan of the history of the game, I would recommend taking a look at this book. American football is an interesting game, very competitive with nonstop strategy involved. It has been at the very top of the American team sports hierarchy for quite some time now and shows no signs whatsoever in slowing down. Not the most popular world wide sport by a long shot, in fact I would say it ranks near the bottom. The NFL markets their product well by scheduling games in Europe and other countries but in my opinion it is mostly a spectacle for these countries viewing pleasure. I have always seen American football as a bit of gladiator sport, after all it is a violent full contact sport played by athletes decked out in armor like uniforms. Back to this book. Copyright 1976. I would still consider mid '70's on to be modern day football judging by the uniforms and advancement of strategies, (offensive and defensive sets and schemes, rule changes and changes to the way the game is played). I have done a little research on the origins of American football and not to my surprise have found it is not rooted in either the game of European football , (soccer in America) , or Rugby. This fact I would say is debatable. Back to the evolvement of American football. Some good history in this book , mention of the founding fathers like, Walter Camp, Alonzo Stagg and Pop Warner, all get credit for advancing the game. Onto the legendary coaches earlier on; George Halas, Paul Brown, Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry. This book elaborates on the first sophisticated offenses and defenses, the different sets and schemes and how they were advanced by newer coaches with variants in modern times. No spoiler alerts here. If you are a seasoned coach or fan , you probably get the picture here. You might be interested in this book , you might not be.
