"This man is simply scary. There is both a clinical thoroughness and a heartfelt emotional thoroughness to his writing. He manages to shock as well as empathize, to scare as well as acclimatize, yet beneath it all is a well read intelligence that demands to be engaged. I loved Blood Related. Ordinarily I hate serial killer stories, but William Cook won me over. He is a unique and innovative talent." - Joe McKinney, Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Flesh Eaters and Dog Days
"William Cook tells a gruesome story with a sense of authenticity that makes you question with considerable unease if it really is fiction, after all." - Graham Masterton, author of The Manitou and Descendant

Having just finished reading Babylon Fading: Bizarre Fiction & Verse, by William Cook, illustrated by Joseph Donald Myers, I am left in awe of the utter brilliance that is the word artistry of William Cook. I have yet to read anything by this author in which I haven't been left in a deep state of amazement, and feeling the effects of the words deeply and viscerally. William reaches deep into the darkness and bizarre nature of the human psyche in this stunning assortment of short stories and poems. At the end of a few I found myself with tears of sorrow, sadness and foreboding. And then at the end of others I was feeling anger and rage. A few standouts for me are God Is Not An American, Aspects of Infinity, Dark World Tirade and Epitaph, just to name a few. And, as if the words alone are not enough of the artistry, there are some amazing illustrations by Joseph Donald Myers, the juxtaposition of which only make the experience all the more entertaining. This was an experience...an experience of the mind, the heart, the soul and every sense of awareness in the human experience. It’s very difficult to convey an experience such as this in words not being a wordsmith myself, but I hope that I have done it justice by at least sharing some of the experience I had reading and admiring the artistry within. And the book ends “I will lay my neck on the stump and you can raise the axe.” If that doesn’t say “The End”, I don’t know what does. My hat is off to you William, well done, well done indeed. (All fanboy there, sorry)...

William Cook once again explores the darkness that lurks within the human mind. This definitely bizarre and graphic combination of short stories and poetry, draws you in and holds you there while he delivers master strokes of the macabre, while exploring our deepest fears. This is a great combination of work and the artwork for each piece works exceptionally well. Excellent stuff.
This book flows so well from poems to short stories that it was so easy to read. If you are of the bizarre and dark than you will surely enjoy this one. The illustrations just give all the more to the reading of this anthology.
