I don't subject books like this to a superficial like/don't like judgment. But I do recommend it to anyone with a deep interest in human psychology, which includes criminal psychology. Van Poyck, as intelligent and self-aware as he was, still couldn't keep his life from spiraling down into everything he'd once prided himself on not being. It was painful to reread, having also read his blog, written on death row, knowing that it all ended in the execution chamber.
Bill is a good friend of mine, biding his time on death row at Florida State Prison. He's a fabulous writer, & this one is his autobiographical tale of how he ended up where he is today. He doesn't mince words, makes no apologies. One hell of a story.
