Rate this book
This is the first comprehensive listing of Malcolm Cowley’s literary works, excluding anthologies, from 1916 to 1973.

Malcolm Cowley, critic, poet, and literary historian, has been a central figure in the American literary scene for more than fifty years. Diane U. Eisenberg traces Mr. Cowley’s literary contributions through nearly 1,200 items published in more than seventy periodicals, thus revealing the very wide range of Cowley’s interests.

Eisenberg’s checklist, presented in chronological form, emerges as an historical record of the writing profession in America during the past fifty years. She presents the checklist in parts covering Cowley the man of letters who works in a variety of modes: books and book reviews, poetry, essays (often in the form of introductions to books by others), memoirs, short fiction, and translations.

This checklist will be valuable both to students of Mr. Cowley’s work and to students of American literature in general.
