Happy 21st Birthday: A Field Guide for Bar Patrons of All Ages

Rate this book
"This book is not fancy. It does not claim that “the bartender is always right,” nor self-indulge in descriptions of wild success and inspirational mantras. It does talk about barf, being a jerk, and understanding the grit beneath the hosted party. It’s good for the novice bar patron and long time regular alike. Simple advice (how to order the drink you want) mixed with anecdotal comedy and a breakdown of business logistics makes for a fun read about the people who take care of you at your local watering hole. No, we don’t hate you, but you are a jerk sometimes- and so are we. Sorry about that. Please keep coming in."

This is an awesome book! Highly recommended to anyone who likes bars or are curious about how they operate. I learned a lot as both a patron and a server. Tanya has a fantastic funny and informative voice and tells great stories.

Funny, enlightening, a quick and entertaining read. Atticus Finch said, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb in his skin and walk around in it.” If you care about your bartender (and you should), read this book to figure out what their life is like. And have a little compassion and empathy for everybody working service industry jobs. Remember what it felt like for you. And never, ever, make finger-guns or say, “Make it a good one.”
