Backstage Pass to the Flipside Book Talking to the Afterlife with Jennifer Shaffer Book One explains the process of obtaining these "interviews from people on the Flipside." Jennifer Shaffer is a renowned medium/intuitive who works with law enforcement in the US to help find missing persons. Richard Martini is a best selling author who either knew the people they seek to interview, or their class moderator Luana Anders (on the flipside) helps moderate the discussions. Each chapter is an exploration of what is said, research is done to verify details that are heard, and observations of the process are made. The following are just a sampling of some of the people "accessed" via this process. “Backstage Pass to the Talking to the Afterlife with Jennifer Shaffer PART ONE” 1 - “A Class in Translation” The genesis of the classroom model for chatting with the flipside. 2 - “Open yourself up to the possibility” Atheist and actor Harry Dean Stanton proves he’s on the flipside. 3 - “The Concierge of Connectedness” Part 2 of Harry Dean’s interview after his memorial service. 4 - “He’s Over Your Shoulder” Michael Newton makes an appearance during a session. 5 – “Faster, Smarter, More Efficient” Michael gives noetic science advice on how to communicate with the flipside. 6 – “Harvard to Oxford and Back” Julian Baird PhD – Atheist and freethinker Julian Baird reports on his crossing over. 7 - “Backstage Pass” Tom Petty makes an appearance in our class, comes up with the name for the book. 8 – “The Cowboy Buddha” – Actor Rance Howard reports who was there to greet him on the flipside. 9 - “Irony” – Robin Williams continues to give us advice on his journey into the flipside. 10 - “It’s Fun. Writer/Director/Author Richard is an award winning filmmaker, who has written and/or directed 8 theatrical features, and a number of documentaries. His first book, "Flipside: A Tourist's Guide on How to Navigate the Afterlife" went to #1 twice at Amazon in all its genres. The book is based on transcripts of a documentary he made which is available at Amazon (Flipside: A Journey Into the Afterlife) and Gaiam TV. His latest book is "It's a Wonderful Afterlife" volumes one and two where he expands the research into the afterlife from Michael Newton's work, to include interviews with a number of scientists in the field of consciousness, including Dr. Bruce Greyson, Dr. Mario Beauregard, and Gary Schwartz Phd. He also examines near death experiences and compares their accounts to similiar ones during between life sessions (the technique used by Michael Newton that allows people to access the between lives realm, or LBLs) and other examples (OBEs) where people may have lost their ability to think normally, but are having the same experiences.
This book should help those who are skeptical about whether there is an afterlife or not. In my case, it is preaching to the choir. I already know there is an afterlife. The reason for the 3 stars are as follows: It is formatted in a very choppy fashion, in question and answer form. There is Richard Martini, the author asking questions through a channeler, Jennifer Shaffer and then she relays what she receives. There is very little information from those on the other side. I wanted so much more. I want pages and pages of information and insight from those, like Stephen Hawkins and Christopher Hitchens and Anthony Bourdain, who have passed over. This book provides only snippets.
If you are looking for lots of information from famous (or not famous) people from the other side, read Joanne Helfrich's books, such as "Afterlives: Firsthand Accounts of Twenty Notable People" (including Hunter S. Thompson, Albert Einstein, George Harrison, Ayn Rand, Anthony Bourdain, Robin Williams, to name a few), "The Afterlife of J.D. Salinger" and "Starman: My Life and Afterlife" (David Bowie). Also, the book "Conversations with Jerry and Other People I Thought Were Dead" by Irene Kendig. These books provide much, much more detail about what to expect when you die.
Another issue I had with Martini's book is that it is full of misspellings, grammatical errors and missing words! Would someone please tell me how anyone can write a book and then not bother to proofread it before it is printed? How do you even do that? Whenever I see this in any book, my estimation of the author plummets. It is so unprofessional...how can you take anyone seriously who would let this happen? I recently read Barbra Streisand's 1000 page memoir and guess what? There was not even one error or misspelling in the entire book. ZERO! Not one. That's the way it should be done.
Finally, I do believe this book is worthwhile and should certainly help those who are on the fence or who are very skeptical. The information Jennifer channels from these individuals is often info that no one would know except the individual involved. Martini always makes a point of highlighting these instances
