Inner Reflection is a fun, chaotic, middle grade adventure with a lot of heart. I love that JJ Fryer has created a magical world where people with special needs have special powers.
“Your power is connected to your emotions. All autist people have control over the weather like you do.”
Young Anastasia is a girl with Aspergers, who is nervous about starting her first day at a new school. Little does she know she’s about to dive head first into a world of magic.
Given my son, RJ, has Aspergers I really enjoyed reading from Anastasia’s point of view.
What makes this even more interesting, is that the author JJ has Aspergers, which means it’s written from a genuine autistic perspective.
From walking, talking trees and Mother Nature herself, to mermaids, to witches, and much, much more…
This story has a bit of everything to keep the excitement going.
My favourite aspect of the story were the portals.
“I was poking my head through every portal that I could properly see, deciding where I should go to get breakfast: Rome, Paris, New York, there were too many to choose from.”
Can I have these magical portals fitted in my bedroom please .🙏
The possibilities would be endless.
