WOW what a story this one is, action packed, fast paced and just a beautiful sensual story of finding your mate and your true love but there are a lot of hurdles to cross for an exiled bear shifter King and a bear shifter who is looking for help from the true King to free her father, hang onto your hat when reading this one, I loved it.

Lidiya Rihanoff needs to leave the secret realm of Callistoya to find the exiled king Ged Taverner to get him back to where he belongs and help free her father who is being held captive until Lidi agrees to marry the usurper King. What she doesn’t expect to find his her mate the one that she should spend the rest of her immortal days with, with so much going on she agrees to a short fling, but the need to be with Ged does not go away.

Ged has been managing the rock band Beast for thirteen years and helping shape shifters who are in danger since he was ejected from his homeland, the search for his missing brother keeps him going as well but when he meets a shifter in Cannes he knows that she is his mate, but can they ever be together and will he get back to Callistoya and re-claim the throne?

This is the third instalment in this series and it packs a punch, I loved it from start to finish MS Godman has penned a fabulous story that brings this world to life, truly don’t miss this one it has everything a reader of paranormal romance could want a sigh worthy hero and a heroine to match him beautifully. I loved Ged and Lidi, it is a moving and amazing story one that I highly recommend, thank you MS Godman.

Having sampled a few of the recent BookTok-ish versions of this type of romance novel, I thought I owed it to myself to try out the OG version. If anyone knows how to get romance fiction out the door and onto shelves, it's got to be Harlequin. This was a pretty decent read, it certainly flew by. I liked the overarching structure of the series with different members of a rock band who all happen to be shifters of various kinds meeting their fated mates. The final half of the book flies by as we stuff in an amnesia plotline with nary a page to spare to set up and resolve things. I was half expecting there to be a cliffhanger of some kind, but I guess this type of publisher doesn't usually go for that kind of thing since readership retention might be inconsistent.

(Checking back in later after reading a couple more books from the Nocturne imprint and I'd say this is probably the best of the ones I've tried even with my pacing quibbles. The characters and worldbuilding are stronger than average.)

The third book of the series follows Ged Taverner, mysterious bear shifter who goes around rescuing shifters from bad situations, but also manages the rock band, Beast. His past catches up with him as Lidi, a bear shifter from his home kingdom, finds him and begs him to come back home. Turns out, Ged is an exiled prince from a secret bear-shifter kingdom, Callistoya. Years ago, there was a coup and Ged's stepbrother took control of the kingdom. Somehow, Ged ended up outside Callistoya and unable to get back in (because of a spell) and had also lost his brother. He chose to bide his time and atone for his inability to help his people by helping other shifters. Now, Lidi, a noble from outside the 5 ruling families, is asking him to come back before she is forced to marry Ged's stepbrother. Ged agrees to help and accompanies Lidi back to Callistoya. The two both realize that they are fated mates and try to fight the attraction, knowing that they cannot have a future since Callistoya law dictates that Ged must marry among the 5 ruling families. They don't succeed in resisting, but fall in love. They, with some help from Beast and a magical, enchanted guide dog, must take back the kingdom and find their HEA.

Better than the second one for sure, but still not as exciting as it probably sounds. Just as in the last one, I put this down in the middle of the book and came back to it days later. I didn't feel like I'd lost a connection to the characters this time, but I still didn't feel the need to finish in one sitting as I typically do. The story itself was pretty good - Ged and Lidi were both interesting characters, as was the brother. I liked the revealing of background as we gradually find out what actually happened the night that Ged got ousted from his kingdom. Ged and Lidi also had some pretty good chemisry, which got drawn out much further in this book than in previous ones (we don't get love scenes until 50% in, as opposed to 20% in the last two). The UST was definitely a positive here - it helped create a feeling of angst for the characters, although I don't know that their reasons for not being able to "be together" were all that convincing. Ged is a king and his kingdom has a law that he can't marry Lidi...so he has to suffer with that policy forever and can never change it, right? Nope, he does exactly as I would expect and goes ahead and changes it. But all that mental anguish over not having a future with Lidi ended up being for nothing. Also, I found myself wondering where the magical dog came from. That never really got explained. Nor did their seem to be a solid purpose for making Lidi more emotional than other bear-shifters. I guess maybe it was to make her different or something, but I had wondered whether she was going to lead the way towards allowing emotions among bears or something. That didn't really play out further.
Nevertheless, I feel like this was an improvement over the 2nd installment and I did enjoy the story on the whole. I'd probably pick something up about Dev or Diablo or Finglas if the author chose to write about them.

Destiny prevails! With book three in her Beast series, Jane Godman brings us Ged's story. Each story in this series has had one of the members of the band meeting their mate and traveling the dangers to be able to be together. With Ged, we learn his past and see the fireworks that happen when the woman he's destined to be with finds him. It's a great story ... probably my favorite of the series so far!

Bear shifter Ged Taverner is the manager of the ever-popular rock band Beast that he created from a bunch of guys he met during his heart's work of helping shape shifters who are in danger. He's enjoying watching the guys settle in and prosper. He never expects his past to come calling in the middle of the night ... and in the form of his mate!

Lidiya Rihanoff is in dire danger and knows the only man that can help her is Ged ... but she knows him as who he really is ... Gerald Tavisha, exiled King of Callistoya! Lidi refuses to marry Ged's stepbrother, the standing King who was responsible for the worst day of his life. She needs Ged's help to get her father to safety and knows that he needs to take back his life while he's at it!

Captivating the Bear by Jane Godman {Beast #3}
Jane Godman also wrote Awakening the Shifter (Beast #1) & Enticing the Dragon (Beast #2) But in reading there should be no reason these could not be stand alone books. These are paranormal romance books and if you enjoy reading them then I highly recommend them. This one happens to be Ged’s story.
Lidiya Rihanoff left her country, Callistoya as she was desperate to escape an arranged marriage.Lidi was to marry Ged’s step brother. Ged Taverner which the world sees as a manager for a rock band, however Lidi knows he is a king in exile. Both Lidi and Ged are shape shifters. Ged is a bear shifter.
Lidi sees him and she can not believe the overwhelming desire she feels for him and Ged senses someone is in the crowd that he is drawn too also. Neither were expecting to find their mate that was meant to be

CAPTIVATING THE BEAR by author Jane Godman is August 2018 release by Harlequin Nocturne series.

Ged Tavisha is the band manager for ‘Beasts’ the famous rock band in which all the members are shifters. Ged was responsible for bringing them together. But we didn’t know anything about Ged himself other than that he’s a bear shifter.

In this story we find out that Ged was an overthrown king and now he needed to go to his kingdom to help his people and overthrow the usurper. His mate, Lidi came looking for him.

CAPTIVATING THE BEAR is a thrilling story as we travel with Ged and Lidi through all the hurdles for them to reach their land. I liked reading about the other band members getting together to help Ged fight the bad guys. Author Jane Godman weaves magic in her stories.

Highly recommended for all readers of paranormal romance.

Haven't read a Harlequin Nocturne for a while, so when this was given to me I thought, why not? All about a bear shifter who is the rightful heir to the throne of his kingdom, but has been locked out by magic perpetrated by his evil stepbrother. Until Lidi comes looking for him, then look out! Pretty good fun. It's #3 in the 'Beast' series, but it was okay in terms of picking up what's gone before. Fun.

"Captivating The Bear (Beast #3)" by Jane Godman is my favorite so far in this series. This is Lidiya Rihanoff (Lidi) and Ged Taverner story. She is escaping an arranged marriage and all he wants is everyone to think he’s the manager of a rock band. Lidi knows he is a king that has been exiled, and both are shape-shifters. If you love paranormal romance you're going to love this one.

Another good romance from Jane Goldman with, of course, a lot of action and suspense thrown in for good measure. She never fails to please.

This was my first attempt at a Mills and Boon. I didn’t even get to any juicy bits. I just couldn’t get into it at all. Saying that romance is not my usual genre so others may enjoy it.
