Wow. I was not prepared for this.

This book, more than any other in the series thus far, answers a lot of questions, yet still leaves you begging to know more. I have no idea what direction this story is going to go in the next entry, but I'm dying to find out.

Followers of the Storm is quite different from the other two books in the series, in a good way. It avoids formula and keeps the development of the long-form story and its characters dynamic rather than plugging them into a similar situation as before that is structured around familiarity. The relic here is different, its effects are different, the villains are different, the set-up is different, and - perhaps most importantly - Simone Cassidy is different.

Without going into spoiler territory, what we see in Followers of the Storm is Simone at her lowest point. She is not the same character as before, but rather the logical continuation of that character's ongoing journey. She is once again revealed to be eminently human and flawed. It's tough to imagine things getting worse for her. There are several moments, especially toward the end, that are particularly heart-wrenching.

Needless to say, this is without a doubt the darkest book of the series up to this point, and also (as mentioned up above) the one with the most development. It feels almost like a culmination of everything that's been building throughout the last two books, leading into the next phase of the journey. It feels like a real turning point, a decisive moment rather than just another stop along the way. The Serpent's Fang established it all, The Tomb of Souls lead us further on the journey, and Followers of the Storm is the crux of all that has happened.

That is NOT to say this is the end, by any means. For every secret learned and every new development that occurred, there is even more to consider going forward. We're talking big, HUGE things to consider. There is a lot to say about this book, but it's hard to talk about it without giving too much away. If you've enjoyed the first two books, do yourself a favor and pick up Followers of the Storm. High on intrigue, suspense, action, and adventure, The Treasure Huntress is a series that takes the thrills of the summer blockbuster and delivers them from the silver screen to your Kindle screen.

Highly, highly recommended!

This third installment in Simone Cassidy’s story hits the mark again!

We catch up with Simone as she’s hiding out in a friend’s apartment, recovering from injuries sustained on her last adventure. She has given up treasure hunting with Bannicheck, tired of being used as a means to find artifacts that can be weapons.

When a routine tourist visit to a museum leaves her friend severely injured, Simone vows her revenge and strikes out to recover a stolen Viking runestone, getting entangle win the Followers, a well-trained cult on a quest to return the stone where it belongs as an act to save the world.

While this is going on, Solomon is still on the search for Simone, determined to get his own revenge for an act she committed earlier in the series.

This one is just as energetic, exciting, and interesting as the previous two. Simone is amazing, pushing her body and her skill set to the max in every novel. Her family story also continues to develop in each novel, leaving me wondering how she is going to react and what choices she will make as the series continues. Definitely read the others first, and definitely pick this one up!

Old enemies become.... frenemies (?). This book is more complex than the previous ones. You start to like characters you know you shouldn't and hate characters you thought you liked. Mullaney toys with you and your emotions plucking strings like a concert violinist. This book makes the others pale by comparison.

Pretty good read, but there is still a lot unknown. We are learning the answers just a little at a time. There are several more books in the series. How can the heroine physically and mentally keep going without completely breaking down? She’s now into heavy drinking and opioids and can’t last much longer!
