Very short read; finished in 4 hours and I am not an impressive reader. Not anywhere near the depth I had hoped; it's more like a top level view and you need to research what you really wanted advice on through other sources.
Each topic has barely a paragraph dedicated to it. Most of what was in this book was common sense even to me, someone born and raised in the rural country, surrounded by unabashed racism and .
I had originally ordered the first edition by mistake, and though outdated and useless by modern standards it was clearly a comprehensive manual. The modern edition (19) pales in comparison and is maybe a tenth the content.
I'm not sure if that's a commentary on society, but the type of person who could benefit from reading this book is unlikely to be interested in doing so. It really only covers basic manners. Is high society dead?
This is a book that I wish I had pulled from a library instead of bought; it is not worth the high retail in my opinion.
****mid review I realized I was once again sent the wrong edition of this book from thriftbooks. The version I am actually after might be what I wanted, but this edition is certainly not.
