Knitting Pattern: Premature Baby 10in Wrap and Booties
KNITTING PATTERN
This sweet little knitting pattern is for a tiny premature baby knit, just 10 inch chest, using wonderfully soft 4ply (UK) knitting yarn. I created it because I wanted to make tiny baby clothes that were a more natural fit for premature babies. Since this wrap is for such a tiny little premature baby, it fastens at the shoulders as well as on the front to make it comfortable for baby when getting dressed.
The back and fronts are knitted in one piece to minimise uncomfortable seams, and although the front is garter stitch, the back is stocking stitch as this is much softer for babies with delicate skin to lie on. The loafers/booties feature a wide strap which buttons at the side to help when putting on baby.
This design uses Wendy Peter Pan 4 ply (UK) yarn which is really soft to the skin as well as machine washable. 2.75mm knitting needles are required and you will need 6 tiny buttons. It is knitted flat using 2 needles and is written using English terms.
Size: Wrap - size: 10 inch, actual size 12 inch
Loafers - sole about 2 1/4 inches long
This design is lovey knitted in traditional pink and blue colours and is lovely and cosy over a baby grow. It would make a lovely set to donate to your local NICU unit.
