This informative and very readable books is the result of extensive research of Anne Richmond of the then-titled Loughborough & District Archaeological Society and draws on the interests and expertise of other members of the Society. The publication features information from the Parish Registers of Loughborough's All Saints' Church, various wills and inventories of Leicestershire, the Bridgemasters' accounts of Loughborough, Nichols' History and Antiquities of the County of Leicester and a wide variety of other historical texts and sources. Proceeds from the sale of the book support the work of the Society, in particular the upkeep of the Old Rectory building in Steeple row, which they run on a voluntary basis as an independent museum.
