Halfway to Halfway & Back is a collection of river stories that capture the essence and mood of river guiding and like an old friend and the river itself, lure you back for another trip. This second book builds on the success of Halfway to Halfway & Other River Stories, an award winning compilation of river guide tales published in 2012.
Book 38 of 2024: Halfway to Halfway and Back written and compiled by Dick Linford and Bob Volpert (2018, Hallway Publishing, 318 p).
A super entertaining collection of river guide stories, centering on northern California, southern Oregon, and Idaho. These essays, by a variety of authors, were well written and captivating. They really captured the essence of being on the river.
This book, like its predecessor Halfway to Halfway, has inspired me to seek out wet adventures on the Salmon (Idaho) and Rogue (Oregon). I only can hope they produce a third volume. My suggested title would be "Halfway to Halfway and Back...Again".
Excellent, very entertaining! Sometimes one doesn't want to be "Tied to" a book and this collection of short stories can become just the ticket in those times when you prefer not to commit hours to your story in one setting. Also, as a former raft guide, this would make a grate group sized fireside read.
