Loved everything about this second book! I love it when the books get even better (if that’s even possible since I loved the first one so much) with the next books! An exciting return to this series and I’m so glad it’s finally here! Love the book, characters and fast paced writing of this author! Thanks for a satisfying and adventurous read!
Personal Response: I thought that the first book was better than the second although it was still ok. The ending of the book changed the whole series when they stated that all the influencers were under attack. I think that the next book in the series will be better than this one.
Summary: The book starts off with Kaylin and Jax in a helicopter on the way to the Vernon Society. When they arrive, they meet who they think are their parents and find out that they only plan to use them to defeat all the other society groups. They escape with the help from a group called the Protectors, another resistance group. The leader of the group reveals that Kaylin is her daughter and that Jax is her cousin. Next, they plan to take down the Vernon Society so that they can not use influencers for their own personal gain. On the mission with the help of Leo, an ex-member of the Vernon Society, they get in and shatter the societies social status. Soon after they do so they receive a call that another group had a treaty saying that if the Vernon Society failed that they plan to eliminate all influencers. The book ends with the main characters unsure of what to do next.
Recommendations: I thought that the book was ok, I would rate it four starts. I would recommend this book to anyone who read the previous book in the series, Influence. Anyone who likes dystopian books and is between the ages 12-18 would enjoy this series.

I've been waiting for more than a year for this book to come, and I can finally that the wait was worth it. Every turn of a page was unpredictable and exciting.
I am going to start with what I love about this author: He goes straight to the point. And what I love about this story: It's a never ending adventure. This book, I felt, is so different from the first one. In "Influence", Kaylin is a lost girl who is afraid of the world that surrounds her mostly because she is alone. As she meets Farren, Jax and their team, she turns out to be a good fighter using her best weapon: her push. However, in this book "Awareness", it's like Kaylin has found confidence in herself to be up to any challenge that comes in her way. This time though, the challenge is to adjust to her new life with Jax by her side, and her mother but I have to say... Things are not as they seem! Someone is lying to Kaylin and Jax, and they are in for more trouble. Kaylin will have to keep fighting a force that's trying to eliminante her and those she cares about. Who will make it to the end? I won't say because I don't want to spoil the fun!
And finally some tips before reading this book: 1) read "Humanity's Protectors" You'll have a better understanding of the problems going on in Awareness. And 2) try to read the last three chapters of the book "Influence". Like I said, the author goes straight into the point, so there won't by any explanations by Kaylin about what happened in book 1. Book 2 starts right off from the ending of Book 1.
And my very personal opinion about the book: I loved it. I'll read it again but it's too short. I wanted more, and I feel like a lot of other ideas/problems/situations could develop out the book. Also, there weren't a lot of moments between Kaylin and Farren, or Kaylin and Amanda. I find that a little strange since Kaylin practically just got together with Farren, so they should be together talking almost all the time? And...Kaylin just found her real mother, so her "other mother" Amanda should have been more involved, or at least they should have discussed how awesome it was for Kaylin not to be alone anymore? I understand the circumstances of the story, but still I really look forward for those moments.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, this second one, not so much. By the second or third chapter I could tell that something was off and it continued throughout the entire book. I kept feeling like this one was written by a completely different person than the first book. There was nothing to draw you into the plot or get you invested in the characters. The whole thing was just blah! - Beginning to end.
Abandoned as a child Kaylin has his her entire life protected by her best friend Amanda. Them she finds herself caught up in a revolution only to be kidnapped. Finding herself caught up in a family brawl to control or topple the Vernnon Society Kaylin must choose a side. And try not to get killed or her friends and family killed.
I tried to like this book but it was missing something. For me there was no depth. I did not become engaged with the characters. It was just a story about war and was not that believable.
I don’t know. It took me forever to finish this book. I didn’t like it as much as the first one. I would have liked to know more about the parents and the society. It seemed to easy to take them down too.. but that’s just my opinion. Also yer length of time in between was super long. But that’s ok 😃
