Depression is a serious matter, and this book lets you know that. I was finding it hard to come across a book that would be helpful for my research paper but this certainly did help. I love how the book gives you representations of certain situations so that you have a better hold on it and can completely process it. This book was extremely helpful and I recommend it to anyone who's researching depression or anyone who is just interested in knowing more about it. Though this book states that it's about other mood disorders as well as depression it mainly just focuses on depression. It mentions some other disorders but the author does a wonderful job on tying it all back to the main topic, which is depression.
The short stories at the beginning of certain sections is really helpful. They help you better understand why this is happening and how to avoid a certain situation as that. This book is amazing and even gives you advice if you're depressed. All in all, this book is extremely helpful and for it being an informational book (which I only read on certain occasions) I couldn't put it down. I don't recommend this to stubborn people because this book does focus on how depressed people feel and I know some people don't like to sympathize. So for you stubborn people who believe depressed people aren't depressed, this book isn't one you should read. I would want you to, so you could see how it's really like to be depressed, but not if you're going to be stubborn. This book is probably best for parents with depressed children and for teens that are going through bouts of depression. It's extremely informational and helpful, definitely worth the read.
