Just nine months after his marriage, the last thing that Daniel expected was to hear that his wife was leaving him. Daniel then suffers from a serious mental breakdown which leaves him unable to function properly. The truth about his wife is being kept hidden away from him. A series of bizarre events leads Daniel to uncover the shocking truth about where his wife has gone. Unable to confront the man who had stolen his wife from him, Daniel goes into counselling and writes a cathartic novella to ease his suffering. In the novella, his wife and her partner are kidnapped and murdered. Then is real life, both of them suddenly disappear, .leaving Daniel as the only suspect with a motive to harm them both. When Catherine and Jake come round, both of them have trouble recalling the events which have left them tied up and at the hands of a mysterious man dressed all in black. They are informed that only one of them will leave the room, but to do so, they must kill the other one. Then the brutal torture begins and escalates quickly. The question is, how much pain can they endure, before one of them finally cracks?

I love a good torture book as much as the next gal.. This story had some light torture, definitely not extreme, but enough to whet a gore lover's appetite.
Broken hearts cause people to do heinous acts, and sometimes violence.
The first half of the book ( short story, I think around 80 pages total) was kinda slow and just building up the failed marriage..once the lovers were abducted the action started. I wish it had been more extreme, but overall it was a decent read
