Largely a satisfying read, I do enjoy a good romantic distraction. This was a pleasing selection of charming, warm, delightful little romantic stories.
I will break it down by novella.
CAPTIVE AT SEA: Cute, but it lacked some things. The pacing was off, the tension lacked something, and there were necessary scenes that we should have been privy to that were completely cut out! Don't leave out the good stuff, authors, know where the audience needs the drama.
NEVER THE TWAIN: In my opinion, the most beautiful of the five stories, and definitely my favorite. Good set of characters, interesting story, great sense of romantic tension and emotions. I was charmed.
FULLY COMMITTED: Also loved this one, it hit all the right emotional buttons. A sweet story of second chances, engaging characters, and nice romantic feel.
WITHOUT A SONG: Easily the most obvious in its attention to Christianity in general, not as subtle in that regard as the others. The story felt a tad rushed, but I really liked the characters, especially little Ivy, and it warmed the heart.
AUTUMN LOVES: By far my least favorite, just couldn't get attached to this one. There was no emotional development AT ALL, it was just zero to this-is-the-only-person-I-could-possibly-be-with in no time flat. That just didn't ring true. We need the build-up and we didn't get it. The characters were flat, not a lot of individuality, and it just didn't resonate.
Overall an enjoyable read, hits the warm-fuzzies mark.
