Little Bear wakes up too early from his winter sleep and finds a whole new world of snow-filled adventure. But when he slips on the ice and realises he is lost, only Little Bear's new-found friend and special song can help him find his way home.
Discover winterland through the eyes of the bravest bear of all and join in hi song as he explores the magical forest.
When Little Bear wakes up early from his winter sleep he decides to go outside and explore so he creeps past Mummy Bear's bed and off he goes.
He discovers a winter wonderland of snow and was dazzled by the brightness of the trees that were all covered in snow.
To make himself seem brave he sings a song that ends with the line 'I'm not scared.' And he pretended he wasn't and climbed a tree to get a different view of the land all around him.
He then jumped down and slid along the pine tree until he hit the ground with a thud. But he sang his song and again ended with 'I'm not scared.'
He carried on walking through the forest, singing as he went, and decided to build something big - a snow bear. Then Red Bird appeared and he and Little Bear were thirsty so they sucked icicles until they had quenched their thirst.
They went to the pond and as it was frozen, Little Bear began to skate on it ... that is until he fell with a THUMP! He cried but Red Bird told him he was a brave little bear and he sang again but this time he ended his line with 'I'm only a little scared.'
Little Bear then decided that he wanted to go home as he began to feel the cold and Red Bird escorted him on his way and this encouraged Little Bear to sing 'I'm no longer scared.'
Mummy Bear welcomed him home, asked where he had been and then put him to bed to await the spring. Mummy Bear sang to him as he went to sleep and her line was 'You're my brave little bear.' And as she finished her song, Little Bear was fast asleep.
A lovingly told story with lovely illustrations by Clare Fennell to accompany it.
My son loves this book, but I have a big problem with the part where Little Bear skates on the frozen pond. I’m not sure we should be saying that that’s it’s ok to go onto a frozen pond. I’ll be skipping this part of the book from now on
